So Im Going to try the koolaid and put in a 2030 Aventage with a 7.2 theater system. Just wondering if any of you Yamaha guys have any tips on setting this guy up.

Thanks

No tips but I dont think you should have any problems.
I like them.
Did a 2010 awhile back using RTI control over IP and the response was rock solid.
They replaced it with a Pioneer Elite and have been dissatisfied with switching and HDMI handshaking issues ever since. I see another Yamaha coming as soon as they start offering them with HDMI 2.0.

enjoy the Koolaid....Yamaha Avantage is a great line with just about everything an integrator needs.  I would be willing to bet you could do a forum search and not find any negative posts on the Avantage line...

Tremendous product. Get real comfortable with the Scene functions. This provides source select power on, the ability to set sound processing, volume levels and much more - all with one single command. I believe you can define up to 12 different scenes. Warning: below the 1030, the ability to discretely set a volume for a given Scene doesn't exist.

Also, get yourself a login (need rep ID #) for the new CI site. Used to be YamahaPAB. It's something like CI.yamaha.com or something. They just changed it. There you will find discrete commands, firmware updates, and manuals.

Hook a network cable into the back and do a firmware update on each unit before taking it out to the job site. It sometimes takes about a half hour so this can be a real time saver. There is an installer menu you can get into to preform the update without having to have a monitor attached.

what he said...and FWIW if you do FW updates onsite...use USB thumbdrive to do FW update...if you loose connection on a network FW download you have to start over and do USB...and in very rare cases it could brick it and cause you to ship it to service...but that seems to be the one in a million...unless your name is Murphy :)
