You would be wasting your time with all the documentation. Even if he quits he still gets unemployment. Ask me how I know.

not necessarily. It will vary from state to state and based on the actual circumstances.
I had a former employee that had quit and then filed for unemployment. I fought it and won. I never paid a penny in unemployment claims.

Some forms of cancer may be mitigated with chemo or radiation treamtents and/or outpatient procedures.

Some need you to cut the tumor out.

Just in case you actually have to deal with cancer, don't take that too literally. In many cases you cut out the tumor and the tissue associated with the vascular supply of the tumor; THEN you use chemo and/or radiation to ensure that any remaining cancer cells are killed.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

So, why not look at "cutting out the surrounding tissue.... THEN you use chemo and/or radiation..." as making it clear to all other employees that this is not in the best interest of them or the company and putting together a plan to prevent it in the future.

You can teach people things like wearing shoe covers and cleaning up after themselves immediately after installing a TV bracket and how to be more efficient when installing speakers etc. What you cant teach is work ethic. By the time you are an adult you either have it or you don't imo.

Some guys are always on time and dressed clean and ready to go. These guys want to work and as long as you are running your company correctly they will always be great employees. If you don't have your act together don't expect your employees to pick up the slack. The good ones will get tired of it and move on. The bad ones will stay as long as they can because its easier to fake their way through the day when no one is watching.

Other guys show up late every other day, constantly have their wives call in sick for them. They are the guys who always have mysterious flat tires that keep them from coming in. They are the guys who take an extra 10 or 30 minutes for lunch on the same day they want to be packed and on the highway headed home exactly at 5PM.

You don't want these guys. Let them work for your competitor or go into business for themselves. If you were a big enough sucker to let them work long enough so that they qualify for unemployment..."charge it to the game". Lesson learned. Pay attention to the next guy you hire. You should be able to figure him out in 30 days.

Hey, don't lump all us chronically tardy people into the same mold ;)
I am often a few minutes late due to my horrid commute.
Guess what, I am also the guy who doesn't pack up and leave at quittin time. If stuff needs to get done, stuff gets done.
As a lead/supervisor/monkey wrangler, one thing that pisses me off is guys who bail out right at quittin time, no matter the circumstances.
If the occasional after hours/long day/weekend panic/grind are not something you are willing to take on, this isn't the profession for you.
I am a trained professional..... Do not attempt this stunt at home.

I worked for someone who constantly told us to stop talking to the teen-aged guys who came into the store because we were wasting our time. Guess who became great customers- EVERY one of the teen-aged guys who used to go to that store. When he would say "They're not gonna buy anything", we told him "Maybe not today, but they will". I still see some of them and several have most of the equipment they bought from me close to 30 years ago- it still works great.

I'm finishing a bar job for one of them now- sold and installed the speakers, checked out his existing equipment, hung 7 TVs, re-connected all of the equipment and am doing what I can to help him open in a new location. The others who are doing the remodel are milking the job, but Thursday is the target date for the first night open and it'll be interesting to see who else goes the extra mile.

This post reminds me of the six seconds I spent in the parking lot of a discount A/V place thinking I might get some install customers there... then I remembered who the hell I'd be dealing with!

See, that paragraph makes it look like they bought something 30 years ago, and then nothing else, which would totally support your boss's idea of things!

Opening a bar requires equipment, so you scored there after thirty years. I know, he's probably bought other stuff too.

A bit less than half of this is razzing you for no good reason. Tire-kickers, when well taken care of, often do come back and buy.

That's because you didn't get him a laptop and he was programming the system thru his phone, 'cause he's that good...

JK of cause.

Cut his hours due to 'no work' and have him dwindle away.

Or keep him in the shop cleaning and inventorying, where you can keep an eye on him.
Of cause cellphones are not allowed in the shop so he'll have to be leave it in the car.
