I've been working with/on a takeover project with a large ComPoint intercom system since 2009. Last year, my client added onto their home and the system expanded to a total of 4 hubs, 20 ISK2 keypads and a door station.
Up until last year's add-on, the system was generally stable, though 1-2 keypads would inevitably and inexplicably die and have to be replaced each year.
Last year, I added the 4th hub and two new keypads in a separate machine room/rack. The system worked properly except for one bizarre issue with hub boot order that Russound and I could never solve.
Last week my client informed me that the doorbell chime was not ringing in the two new zones [but was ringing in the rest of the house]. On inspection, I found that ALL 20 zone keypads appear to be damaged in some way--The characteristic "thump" before and after the chime tones and/or no tone output at all.
I tried isolating hubs, keypads, etc. to see if the problem followed a particular piece/group of hardware--No such luck. The prospect of pulling 20 keypads and 4 hubs to send back for repair does not excite my client.
So all this to ask...Anyone here deal with Compoint? Any ideas as to what could have killed an entire system on two different conditioned power systems but NOT harmed any other piece of equipment in the same racks...? Normally I'd think lightning near-strike static burst or major power surge, but nothing else appears damaged.
TIA for any feedback/ideas.
