now THAT is an impressive looking remote.

get rid of the hard button numeric section(the buttons can be in the touchscreen) and it would be perfect.

Disagree. Hard numeric buttons are a must for me. No look operation. Thats what the T3 series gives you, no hard numeric buttons.

+1000.

This was a lesson learned the first time I programmed a touchscreen for myself after doing fifty or so for customers.

If you use the remote enough to get used to it, learning it by touch is wonderful. If you use it for hours every day but have to look at it to see where the buttons are, it's a turd.

If, on the other hand, you use it once a month (boardroom use, for instance) then touchscreens are better because you can put entire explanations on the screen.

I can't tell whether channel and volume are on the correct side because I'm left-handed and have had to adjust for you narrow-minded righties all my life and therefore have unlearned any possible instinct for what is correct. DirecTV remote has volume on the left, gf says she hates it because she's still used to her TWC remote that's the other way around.

Interesting that RTI and ProControl are more or less the same company and have opposite approach to this very basic issue.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

URC took the buttons away on the MX5000 and everybody screamed bloody murder over that, even though every device template included them in the touch screen.

It has nothing to do with the ease of programming. It has everything to do with the physical feel of the buttons and not having to look at the screen for simple channel changes.

and not having to page flip all the damn time.

guide/navi page, then if you want to jump to a certain section of channels, page flip to numeric, enter channel number, page flip back to menu/navi, ugh. no sir.

a larger touchpanel is obviously more accomodating as you can fit most if not all of this on a large page.

the t2x is very nice looking. it is similar to the procontrol 24.z but more svelt. this is exactly what i told my crestron rep i wanted out of a handheld remote. the only thing it is missing is the silkscreened boolean text over each digit. i like that for directv allot. most of my clients really like searching this way.
I love supporting product that supports me!
