We have a customer who has a Logenex Teledoor system and they would like a chime to ring through their house speakers rather than installing a door chime or their phone ringing.

I know Logenex makes a product for this solution but wondering what other solutions (possibly more cost effective) are available.

For those who are not familiar a relay can be triggered on the Teledoor controller when a door station call button has been pressed. This relay can then trigger a device (connected to the amp) that can then play a WAV file or something similar to distribute throughout the house

Depends on what the house speakers are hooked up to....

If it's a system driven by a receiver, do they turn the receiver off?

@SWOInstaller

I might have a solution, however it involves me openly plugging one of our products.

If you’re interested send me a PM or give me a call and I can give you the details.

Thanks AAC_Anthony

Fred,

The speakers are connected to a Crestron C2N-AMP (4 zone amplifier). What I can't see is a way to override the existing input to play the door chime sound. I have placed this question with Crestron so hopefully they have a solution, if not we will need something like a SPK-1 to switch the speakers without having to switch the zone inputs.

At that point, you'll want some sort of tone generator (the niles piece is in place at my house, so second that recommendation), some sort of line level audio unity distribution amp (xantech av61 for example), some sort of line level audio switching device (if voltage activated, pay attention to ma requirements) (if I am reading it, the crestron amp is fed by an external matrixing preamp), and you'll be good, as long as the crestron stays ready to play.

I have done this many times with Crestron. You will have to do real programming. No Systembuilder here.

I've have a Nuvo Gand Concerto system and would like to add this function. Would I need the "level audio unity distribution amp (xantech av61 for example), some sort of line level audio switching device (if voltage activated, pay attention to ma requirements)" for the Grand Concerto?

Thanks for the help!

On the NuVo Grand Concerto I've used the Viking SLP-1 many times with good luck. NuVo tech support likes their products too, so that's a bonus.

If they want to get fancy you can even do the SLP-4 and record their favorite sports or tv theme on it. Never used it so I don't know the quality.

The last one I also added one more piece for a front door intercom/doorbell combo using Viking.
