Hey all,
Has anyone used the Yamaha RX-Z9 for multi-room?
I need to send both audio (speaker level) and s-video to a second zone plasma. Are there plenty of discrete codes? Any opinions in general??

Thanks.

I hate to be a jerk. But when I research something I usually go to the manufacturer's website first. Checking out the manual and any other related items (read: web page dedicated to RS232 and IR discretes @ yamaha.com). But that is just me.

Yamaha has one of the most complete sets of ir codes I've seen, but haven't had the pleasure of working with a Z-9 yet.

might want to consider seperates at that price point. certainly be better - imho

okay, it was your ho, but why certainly? Possibly, yes, but not necessarily certainly.

At that price point, it makes total sense to consider separates, but hey, we are about integration, right? And what is more integrated than a receiver. Don't jump on me too fast here -- the receiver handles second zone without extra cabling or y-cabling (assuming you back up your digital connections with analog anyway; I even had a Toshiba surround demo DVD with no audio through the digital port on one cut), if it is like other higher end Yams, the second zone can be turned on and off separately from the main zone... what is the certain benefit of separates?

A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

I have worked with the 1400, 2400, and Z9; I hate to say it but they all do a very good job with zone two and zone three. Tons of discreet codes to do anything with these products. The reason I say I hate to say it...I was trained to always seperate home theater and the other zones. But if you get a little creative in programming remotes you can use the Z9 for both.
