The quality of WHA speakers that are often used would mask any benefits provided by Hi-Res.

I would also think that most folks ears are not be up to the challenge.

Sonos v Bluesound

My audio dealer carries both and I'm trying to decide which one to purchase. Lot's of info on Sonos on the web, but virtually nothing about Bluesound. That gives me pause as I am not an audiophile or particularly techie, but hi-res is a selling point. It also is my understanding that Bluesound relies on our wireless network but Sonos does not.

Long story short, anyone have any guidance for a lay person trying to decide? Thanks much.

Sonos does more. Thats for sure.

Bluesound sounds better.

As Bluesound gains more traction, it will have more streaming options.. But for me, RDIO and Tunein, along with my personal Library, is more than enough.

Not sure what you mean by Bluesound relies on your wireless network? It can certainly be hard Wired.

as far as wireless goes, sure SOnos has its own inter device network. but doing good wifi isnt really that hard.

You can certainly make Sonos sound better by passing the Connect to an outboard DAC....or even by using it with an external amplifier instead of the Connect:Amp. Or both for the win!

Bluesound has a long way to go. They are being very cautious and slow with their release, while Sonos roars ahead on their unrelenting mission to penetrate every household with an internet connection.

Honestly, I think Bluesound is an audiophile geek version of Sonos that will never really gain any traction beyond the HiFi geek market. We'll see if I'm wrong.

Revising this old thread. Do any of you guys sell or recommend these over Sonos? It seems like the brand has indeed gained some traction and improvements in the past 2 years. I just found out about them and want to know any current thoughts on them.

Did they even have a booth at CEDIA?

I wasnt at cedia, but pretty sure they were.

They just released a whole new line of product in fact.

the form factor is now rack friendly and much more compact and better looking imo.

Still no pandora, but they have added some other important services like Spotify and the list is still being worked on.

Control4 integration is live as well. Nice 2-way IP control.
