I want an EZ Trencher as our plan is for landscape speaker set ups to EXPLODE (not in the true sense of the word!). Finding a used one is appearing to be impossible. However, at $2k, its not a big deal.

Have you worked what will happen when you hit phone, electric fence, sprinker lines?
I may be schizophrenic, but at least I have each other.

Rented the "EZ Trencher" and it worked like a charm.

Ill post pics of the trench size as soon as i upload them to photobucket

which model was it?

and where are the pics?

I just landed another job with about 1500' of trenching to do. I was thinking of purchasing one of the EZ-Cable Installers [Link: eztrench.com] I have never used one of these and there are no rental places near me that have these.

Chris,

We used to use trenchers when we installed C band satellite systems. One important factor is the type of soil you have in your area. If you are going through rocky or tree roots count on using up belts and cutting blades. Nothing is worse than being on the job and the belt brakes or getts shredded when you still have 50' left to trench. So make sure you keep extra belts.

The size of the cable will also determine which trencher you will need to buy. We also found that the depth of the trench was never quite the depth the manufacturer claimed.

Dave
If you are going to do the job...why not do it the right way?
