There are those who believe that price is the
only concern when buying a product or a service.
There are others who are willing to supply such
at very low prices, and these people are their
LAWFUL PREY.

How true! And, actually works both ways. Retail clerk meets big game hunter. Client meets big game hunter.

If I ever get around to going back to school, this would make a great thesis. Surely there's ground yet to be broken in this area.

ernie - thats why i mentioned the rings first - its a 'retro' so to say. it is applied after the electrician. the other ones can be used if there is a little coordination on the job. they are definately worth the extra effort though. its the little things like this that separate the men from the boys

We use one in our service department when a client says, "$50 for an estimate on my home theater receiver? I can buy a new one for $99!!"

"BUILT BY INDUSTRIAL ROBOTS. REPAIRED BY REAL PEOPLE"
There is no truth anymore. Only assertions. The internet world has no interest in truth, only vindication for preconceived assumptions.

There would be quite a hassle on most of the projects
where I could apply this because I am not also
the electrician, and the electrician has quoted
a price, supplied product, and wants to just plain
do it. How do you go about changing the electrician's
prices and procedures so these boxes are used,
but the homeowner does not pay twice and you don't
have to change what the electrician has put in?

Obviously, that's one hurdle I never bump into, since I am an electrician. However, if I were doing only the power wiring, and the low-voltage installer asked me to use the dual-purpose boxes in specific locations, I'd be happy to do so.

Conversely, if I were doing only the low-voltage work, I'd provide the dual-purpose boxes and ask the electrician to use them in the required locations. They install exactly like any other nail-on.

Carlon also makes the low voltage resi-gard add on boxes that attach to standard plastic j boxes.
