Hi, I have 2 B&K CT610s. Right now my power on preferences are set to "last used setting" for all zones/groups. I want to set all zones/groups to a specific volume, bass, and treble to power up with since each room has different acoustics. This in itself is easy to do but the problem is when I use zone 0 (whole house) it overrides everything in all of the other zones/groups I setup. Do any of the CT610 experts have a solution to this. I did call B&K tech support and the answer I got was that zone 0 is always going to override the other zones.

I am programming two CT600s right now, so I can relate. Create a new zone (say zone 40) and check all the boxes for the zones you want in it (probably all of them). Set the volume up, down, etc. controls to be relative, not absolute (i.e. if you have 2 zones with volumes set at -24 and -28 db, increasing volume on the -24 zone up 2db will result in -22 and -26, not both zones at -22db). The key is to use a non-used zone other than zone zero.

Chad, thanks for the response. Have you tried this. The way I thought it worked (especially after talking to B&K tech support) is like this: for power on preferences I set zone 11 to -24 db, zone 16 to -40, and zone 40 (new whole house/all zones) to -32. I turn on zone 11 by itself and I get -24. All is well. I turn on zone 16 and I get -40. Still good. Let's say I turn off zones 11 and 16 tonight (so all zones are off) and I turn on zone 40 tomorrow. From what I understand all zones are now -32 when powered on because zone 40 covers all zones. Now when I increase/decrease the volume all zones move in 2db/-2db increments from -32 and end up being exactly the same, not what I am looking for. Or I could just be missing something.

I spent a day last week with a B&K guy and we discussed the problems you are having. There IS a way to program the zones so the volume stays relative in each zone. In your example they would not all get tied to the -32db. I will pull out the laptop later tonight and see if I can provide a better explanation...

Chad, once again thanks for the reply. You sound like a pro and I appreciate it. Me, I'm just a guy that likes playing with my own stuff. I've posted a few other times on the board and if you've seen any of them I'm a huge fan of the CT610. Just to reiterate though, I understand how you make the volume relative after power up, it's just how do you get each zone to power up at it's own preset level in Power On Preferences, not power on to zone 40 preferences.
