I have 2 digital cable boxes (one SA 3100 and one Pioneer Voyager) in the same equipment room. Both boxes feed to multiple TVs and can be remotely controlled by an IR repeater from either location. The idea was to be able to watch either source in either room depending on availability of the box (one box is controlled by Tivo and sometimes is tied up).

I was disappointed to find out that both boxes use the same remote. Is there a second set of discrete/alternate IR codes to control the different brand boxes?

Short of covering one IR sensor (which would not work for me because I directly control the box when watching HDTV source) any other creative ways to deal with 2 boxes using the same IR commands? Obviously I need direct IR control of either box at any given time.

In my searching I came across a mention of a Pace Box. Does this box use the same remote as the 2 boxes I have? Is it a better box in general? Does TWC NY offer it?

Thanks

Xantech makes an IR router that can play traffic cop with the signals coming in from other rooms. You must use a learning remote and the RC-68+ Xantech remote in order to use this solution.TWC uses scientific atlanta boxes down here.

consider using an rf remote like the mx-800 and turn off the ir and transmit rf only. it can route signal to individual components/flashers. you could have 10 identical boxes and have no problems

Um.. the MRF-200 only has 6 assignable outputs... How exactly are you going to do 10?

I'd second the Xantech RT-8. Great box and works well. I have the 68+ codes in MX, and Pronto format.
