I am working on an elaborate multi-screen system right now that I'm having a little problem with. I am generating some of my commands with a macromizer and others with a Xantech URC-2 remote. Several commands are less than reliable and I suspect that I'm asking too much of the macromizer as far as the number of emitters it can drive simultaneously. I am trying to drive 4 emitters at a time with the output of the mac, but I'm using an RT-8 router in between the mac and the 789's. Xantech doesn't mention in their literature the output current of the mac, or the loss caused by the RT-8. Is the RT-8 passive or does it re-amplify? If it is passive, I would think that it would have some loss. My questions: Will the Macromizer drive 4 or 5 emitters at once without a 792 or 791-44 amplifier? How about the RT-8-- will it pass an amplified signal, such as the output of a 791 with 10X jumpers? Does the RT-8 have current-limiting resistors built-in for the IR outputs? Is the URC-2 flakey or is it me?

Looking for an IR genius. Where's Fred Harding when you need him?

You're very kind.

Output of the Mac 1 goes to the 791-44 to the RT-8 to the devices to be controlled.

The RT8 is buffered. That is the only way they could get all eight outputs on at a time, which is a switching choice.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Thanks for yor help guys.

With the RT-8 being buffered, will there be enough current left from the 791 to power the emitters through a 789? What size resistors are used to buffer the outputs of the RT-8? I guess I should take it apart and look.
