You got some wise-ass answers for a really vague question that sort of implies that you have not gone to the CEDIA web site, huh?

I kind of liked "yes" the best. That is the answer that always occurs to me when I read a question like this one.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Best I can do is give you my experience. I have been in the home theater/automation/control field for 2.5 years now. I took the Level 1 test last year in Indianapolis without taking the class. I simply studied from my co-workers notes. I passed by 4 questions I think. There are some things on the test that are not in the notes apparently. What pissed me off was they didn't tell me what ones I got wrong - how else am I supposed to learn? Previous to this field, I was doing car stereo installations so I had some basic electronics and troubleshooting skills. which helped a lot. Good luck.
