Today I started getting a craving for some baby back ribs. I've also recently been experimenting with cooking over an open fire (I don't just mean on a grill). This has turned into a cool father/son hobby. Does anyone have an awesome rub or a great sauce recipe you are willing to share?

Funny you should ask..Keep this between you and me or I'll have to kill you.

Google this.

Mike Mills Magic Dust.

Make it, use it, don't question it.  It will make you look like the greatest PitMaster on the planet.

I like wet ribs.  I put on the Magic dust, low and slow at 225 for 4-5 hours.

Throw on a nice BBQ sauce and I'm done. (typically sweet baby ray's) I actually just posted the pics in the What Did you Do Today thread.  But here it is for you.

I started them at 2pm today.  We just finished eating and they were fantastic.

We haven't cooked anything in the kitchen since summer got here.  I put in a new patio and I've been rockin' the new grill ever since.  Going out tomorrow to catch a string of fish and throw them on the grill tomorrow.

I use a gas grill.  I dont own a smoker.  what you see wrapped up in the aluminum foil is chopped apple wood to make the smoke.  Sometimes I'll put it below the grates if I want extra smoke.

I would love to have a "my own" bbq sauce, I've made a few but the flavor is never consistent enough for me to risk it on family dinner if the kids don't like it.  I'd love to get Myron Mixon's cookbook.

1/4 cup salt

Great Rub recipe for dry rub on ribs and for rubbing a pork shoulder before smoking.

I was a killer griller with my Big Green Egg until my whole family went vegan, now it just looks good on my patio.

I could never go vegan... I pray regularly to the Pork Gods! Pork Shoulder in the smoker is one of the reasons I live for!

But, why not use the grill? Eggplant, zucchini, squash, asparagus are all great grilled! A little wood smoke added really shows up with Eggplant, Zucchini and Squash. For the asparagus, just lightly toss with olive oil, and salt them. Grill to they just begin to soften, pull them off, and I like to either drizzle on a little bit of a really good balsamic (or take a cheap balsamic, and reduce it on a burner low and slow, until it becomes the consistency of thick maple syrup.) Another great addition to the grilled asparagus is some grated parmigiano reggiano.

The Big Green Egg is definitely overkill for vegetables, but some day you may come to your senses! :) LOL

I'm also prefer wet ribs. And for a store bought sauce, sweet baby rays is one of my favorites. Although, in a beef jerky outlet I did find a Dr Pepper BBQ sauce that was pretty good.

I have also been playing with Dutch oven cooking. I found a lasagna recipe in the Dutch oven that was a huge hit on my last camping trip.

The founder of our company is a BBQ enthusiast. He has a special Pizza oven in his vacation house that is awesome....

He also is a huge fan of the Big Green Egg BBQ. They have an optional electronic heat control module "The BBQ GURU" or something like that...
Anyways I guess he wrote the software for it. A couple of my friends have them and swear by them that it's the best BBQ set up out there.

There is even a smart phone app to control the device. Maintains temps within TWO degrees!

I looking to build myself a reverse flow smoker out of a 50 or 60 gal propane tank. Soon as I can find a scrap one the build will be on.

My dream is to have an outdoor kitchen area with a wood fire pizza oven......made pizza on the grill tonight.

I recently came across a couple scrap oil tanks. I'm thinking about building a charcoal/wood fired cooker big enough to put a 100lb pig on. I've been wanting to be able to do a whole pig for years

I gave my wife a Dutch Oven for her birthday and she got mad at me.

It is the best rub I've ever used.  Once you use it, it'll be the only thing you use for everything you bbq.

I did the ribs yesterday, had a bad day fishing (still better than a good day at work) so I'm doing a beer can chicken. Called the wife and told her....First thing out of her mouth.

"Are you going to put the rub on it?".
