Client did not want an active subwoofer sitting anywhere on floor. I figured I could use the Niles PSW8 passive sub installed into wall( I know!) and
take the subwoofer preout of the avr985 receiver to an Atlas Sound subwoofer amp.
I only ran 1 16/2 to subwoofer location(sheetrocked now) but when I picked up the sub there is a left and right input!!
I was expecting 1 set if +- input on the speaker for the 1 rca subwoofer preout on the receiver.
Any thoughts??

always use 16/4. For now, paralell the input like tekno suggests.
