So driving around in the install van today and we realized that we get every station EVERY station on our fm radio. We are located in SW Pennsylvania and were getting fm stations from Chicago, South Florida, and just about every place else around. Has any one else ever heard about something like this? I know that you could do this with am but I didn't think it was possible with fm. BTW who ever has 102.9 as an 80's station is lucky.

if the weather conditions are just right, we can pull in a radio station in Corpus Christi, which is about 3 hours away from here. This is a very good thing, because it's the best radio station in Texas, and is not owned/ruined by Clear Channel.... hehe
We can do it my way, or we can do it my way while I yell. The choice is yours.

You probably have experienced tropospheric ducting. This happens usually in a high pressure zone when the radio signal travels in a tunnel of inverted temperature layers in out atmosphere. This occurs in the VHF and UHF radio bands, and you can experience the same thing with television stations.
I have reached over 1500 miles in a short conversation on the 147.200 Mhz Amatuer radio band, which is just a little higher in frequency than your Broadcast FM radio stations. This was from Michigan to Miami, FL!
Other strange radio behavior occurs during meteor showers and high sunspot activity.
Here is a link for more info.

I may be schizophrenic, but at least I have each other.
