Ok guys,

I have a strange question. I have a TV in the kitchen that doesn't have any connection options. Only coax input. Is there a way that I can convert from composite (RCA) to coax so that I can run out of my distribution amp in my HT to my kitchen set? I didn't even know they made TV's without RCA connections anymore...

Thanks,
Mark

That would be an RF modulator. Sold at Radio Shack for $20-25. Sometimes advertised to allow a DVD to be hooked up to an old tv without A/V inputs.
My personal recommendation is to upgrade to a new TV.

Sure Penny, that's the easy answer...lol.

I have spent a couple thousand on amps and pre-amps, cooling systems, and cables, speakers and a ProntoProNG,and I don't think VISA is gonna let me upgrade....lol

a modulator makes the best sense. But if you have an old VCR, you could use it also. It will modulate on CH 3 or 4. just feed the composite (rca video) into your VCR, and then the Cable (RF) out to your TV. tune your TV set to either ch 3 or 4.

The VCR Cheater Modulation usually does not work with DVD Players due to Macro Vision.

The Rat Shack modulator is not so good, but will get the job done. A Good quality modulator wil run around $100-$150 for Mono, $200+ for Stereo.

How about the reverse question. Is there a product that will take the modulated signal and knock it down to baseband?

You mean besides a Tuner? Any VCR will demodulate and output baseband video...........

If you need something with more meat, there are hundreds.....

B/T and Pico are my Favorites

This is, of course, assuming that your VCR has RCA inputs...........
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

anything that has an RF in and a baseband or video out will demodulate the RF signal

There are companies that will make anything for a buck. And, unfortunatly, there are major brand companies that will market it, if they think that you will buy it. Preying on ignorance it a big dollar industry these days.

Yeah, maybe so, but there are still people who just want to turn on a TV and watch cable. They are not being preyed on. In fact, their needs are being perfectly met without charging them for doodads they don't need, so capitalism is working well, and nobody is preying on ignorance.
