I know what you're all thinking... AM radio? Do you really care?

I've got a customer who wants the Mariners games broadcast throughout the house on the multi-zone system (I know what you're all thinking... Mariners, do you really care?)

AM sounds, well like AM... until you turn on the plasma. Then its like all hell broke loose and none of the three AV receivers in the house even get a smidgin of reception. They just howl and buzz, Turn off the plasma and voila'... AM.

I wonder if this has hit any of you when you had a customer who actually wanted his AM and if you found a solution.

Thanks in advance.

I'm no rocket surgeon, but plasma's generate alot of rf interference. Can you mount the am anttena further away from the plasma? Or wire for one remotely?

There is actually one TERK product that works, and it is their $50 or so AM antenna. It sounds perfect for your job because it has to be tuned and oriented to get the best reception, and changing stations means retuning and reorienting.

I have seen this antenna knock out local AM station interference. It might just resonate the Mariners station well enough to make the AM usable.

This is just a guess, but one other thought is to be sure the plasmas are connected to good power grounds and to place the AM antenna where it is more toward the back than toward the front of any of the plasmas. Perhaps there is less radiation out the back than out the front.

Also be sure to use ferrite cores on all signal leads and the power connected to the plasmas, as these also may be radiating garbage. Place the ferrites as close to the plasma as you can get them.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.
