I haven't been paying much attention to Niles for the past few years, and now I see they have a new (to me) line of connecting blocks that get powered by 12V regulated.

Has it become safe to mix & match Niles & Xantech?

Yes, Niles can come out and play.
Actually , some cool features.
Too many to list, check out the "hidden" features.

Niles has screw terminals for their emitters, while xantech uses the more popular 1/8 mini jacks that make troubleshooting a heck of a lot easier if needed.

I dont think the power supply is interchangeable as xantech's is 12v regulated, And uses a different Jack.

Anyone know what the deal is with the variable emitter terminals on the Niles?

AVF, I think you would benefit from my question as well. Before I browsed their site the other day, I remembered their blocks being as you describe. But they've all changed, seemingly for the better, hence my question.

I just looked at the new IRZ6+ conecting block. Looks pretty impresive although they are still using the screw terminals for emitters. It appears as if you can route IR to different sensors. It may help the dual cablebox and receiver issues we run into with whole house control.

Has anyone been brave enough to try them out yet?

AVF,
I believe Doug is referring to these:

I don't believe I can even find a screw terminal on any of them.

Niles has new connecting blocks starting with the designation MSU. They use 3.5 mm mono minis for emitter ports.

The new ir receivers are very nicely plasma friendly.

See them at CEDIA, or at Nilesaudio.com

Thanks Geraldb

They look pretty nice. Has anyone been using them?
