I recently installed a Panasonic DMR-E85H dvdr and an mx-800 remote. I am using the standard work around right now with play as a discrete on and play power as discrete off. Because this is a dvdr and not just a dvd this is causing a few problems.

I do not want the player to turn on playing something stored in it's hard drive every time it comes on. He will need the dvdr on to watch cable through the player. What I am doing now to fix this is when he presses the macro it sends out play, 6 second delay, then stop. Then it comes on to the TV input. I would rather not have a 6 second delay if I can avoid it.

I can't leave it on all the time because it only downloads TV guide info while the power is off.

It needs to be turned on and off discretely. If anyone has these discrete power codes please post them. IF there aren't any codes does anyone have suggestions of a better way to do this. Thanks for any help.
