I am looking for a way to directly control a Pioneer 5040HD. I would like to be able to turn it on and off from an Elan Via witout having to put an emitter on the front of the panel. The ir on the front of the media receiver seems to do nothing and the SR input on the rear gives me no love as well. I have tried the universal IR piece from Xantech and made calls to both Xantech and Pioneer tech. Any help would be great.

If you have any other Pioneer components, you can connect the two with the SR jacks and stick an emitter on the other component and it will act as a repeater. That is only if you have other Pioneer components.
