Hello.....I need an experienced tech in OC CA.....I know I have posted before, but I have not received any real response....anyone know where I can find new techs that will work hard and know what they are doing...I'm begining to think that no one in my area can do both.....everyone is a "finish" guy afraid to get thier hands dirty....I pay well and take very good care of my techs but that is not enough to get them out of bed and to work on time....anyone had any luck finding techs somewhere let me know...

thanks, AJ

I'd love to help, but I'm on the east coast.

We spoke on the phone last time you posted. Trouble is, most everyone here is a finish guy, because they've already paid their dues. You say you need a "tech" but a tech designs systems, and configures them after the wire is pulled. Actually, a "tech" as in "consumer electronics technician" can open up the equipment and repair it if it breaks too. I am a technician, by that definition, and even though I spend a fair amount of time worming through attics and digging in the dirt, I sure wouldn't want to do it full time.

Respectfully, you should say what you mean. "I'm in need of wire pullers, and I pay well!" Nothing wrong with that, there's hundreds of them in OC, with experience. At least some experience. Some training required...

No time to train? I know it's hard to remember the objective was to drain the swamp when you're up to your a** in alligators, but that's how it goes sometimes. :)

Anyway, I have an idea, so I'll send you an email.

My last two guys have come from the car stereo industry. A car guy has knowledge which easily transfers to what we do. He is used to dressing things up really nice and knows a few tricks about getting wires into tight places. A lot of them are, like I was in 1995, fed up with pounding rap music ad ready for a change. I'd run around with your car and find out who at the local shops fits that profile... take the latest Eminem disc with you and see if the guy winces... he's probably a good candidate.

I don't know how unionized California is (geographical ignorance) but here in Washington I found a journeyman looking for work this way. You gotta pay him/her scale wages but the guy I found is great and is willing to work when needed for a 1099 at the end of the year.

Wire pulling is not the issue. How much exp are you looking for? I do alot of indoor, outdoor audio, Modulating, IR, network, voice, plasma Installation, but I am in the learning fase on the video and Theatre equipment integration and setup. This is my next step.
I currently am working with a company now installing all such equip. Mostly I am prewiring remodel, retro, installing structured cable, audio, and topping off after finish, punch down, at plate and in can, as well as installing flush mount speakers, volume contrl through out the homes.

my mistake.....what I need is a team player....someone who is not afraid to get dirty if he needs to....most of our jobs are very large 6 month jobs that require every one to do everything (to a point). I just need someone who will show up on time every day and do the task at hand without complaint....our business is starved for people who know every aspect of a job....just look at this forum....not many guys here....(you all are very knowledgable)....anyway, this is my delima...I don't want to employ a guy who just does finish....jobs are much larger than that

I have been working with couple other guys in company on a 20,000 sqft Main House and 6,000 sqft guest house project we call the Orange Project in Anaheim hills off of Santiago Canyon for the last year, off and on in between other residential small jobs. I would be greatly interested, some days we are slow. I have no problem being on time, getting dirty or pulling wire. I would only be available to work when I dont have work curently with my present comp. I work only as sub, 1099. I wouldnt quit the job I have now these guys treat me good and I get along very well with them, good team with guys I install with.

So let me know if this is acceptable to you?

Actually Mike, it's a 7000 sq. ft. guest house, and it's in Orange, not Anaheim Hills (that's why we call it the Orange Project.)

Here's a few pix if anyone is interested...

Select "View my personal listings" it's the first house on the list.

It would be professional to at least email people back when they respond to your post's. I emailed you twice and if you were not interested for whatever reason, at least email me and thank me for my interest. Guess you don't need the help that bad.

Yes Marky, the house is on the market. 17.5 million takes it, but keep in mind the property taxes alone are going to be $175,000.00 per year.
