Thanks guys.

Uneducated salespeople finally got to me. The article was an act of self-preservation. I make potential clients read it :)

Great! Yes I have a few clients who need to read this. Worst Buy is putting out a lot of bad info about plasmas. Wonder why? Thanx Dawn!

Great job Dawn!

So, does anyone else find it ironic that in an article about NOT buying gear on the internet that Netscape just happened to place a link to buying gear 'at great price savings' in the article? Maybe its just me.

It's ironic isn't it?

I wish I could control that kind of stuff -- I just write it, they place the ads.

of course BB and the big box stores tell people about these myths... The won't sell the service packages if they don't have you wondering how long the TV will last!!!
We can do it my way, or we can do it my way while I yell. The choice is yours.

I believed a couple of these myths before I was reeducated last year. There is lots of bad info out there and it's not always easy to sort through it. I'm still blown away by fact that 95% of the industry runs RG6 on a $15K plasma.

Great article Dawn, thanks! I would however be a little shy about telling my clients they can expect 20 years out of their plasma display.

Most people, or should I say households, run their TVs far more than I would consider a healthy amount. Four hours per day is on the light side, on average, in my opinion.

Also, 720p is only one HD format, and although the native resolution of some plasma dispays can handle that in it's native state, nothing in a plasma display, so far, handles 1080 by 1920 interlaced.

This whole "myth" thing reminds me of our early microwave oven days. The stories about cooking from the inside out, the radioactive exposure, etc... Fact is, 4.25 ghz is the correct frequency to break up the water molecule, and the insuing friction causes heat. Ratheon (Amana) took advantage of that, and now we have a product we can't live without.

Later this year (supposedly) LG and Samsung will be coming out with the first 1080p plasma displays. The panels are 70+ inches diag. Should make things interesting.

Supposedly is right. I hear they are having trouble with this one. It's a lofty goal, and if successful, I'll sell 'em!

I'll sell them too, but can you imagine how heavy those things are going to be??? Might need three people to hold it.

Also, from what I hear $40k is what what they're shooting for. Hope they have decent margins. :)
