Thank you, very helpful.

One detail I am particularly interested in is the ability to support multiple instances of cloud based streams (i.e. Pandora, Spotify, etc. - I know you can't get into which of these are supported, but does anything limit the number of separate instances other than resource utilization?)

Also, I understand this system to be intended as a standalone solution. I wonder about the potential to incorporate it into an environment where Control4 or Crestron is in place.

Sonos is standalone, and yet can be "integrated" by treating "Rooms" as "Sources", and training the client to use the control platforms zone management rather than Sonos's own group zones function.

Of course, exposing a control interface would be the homerun.
If it's not simple, it's not sufficiently advanced.

I will also throw in an idea.
I don't know if Russound's RNET is proprietary, but I'm running into limitations with trying to stream external devices WITH META capability.
If your gizmo was able to talk to older CAM & CAV controllers, and the current C-Series, I for one would be all over that.
I know I have some iPxd options, but being able to feed multiple sources of Pandora, Spotify, etc out of a single device would be a huge plus.

Feel free to contact me if you're still looking for beta testers.

Yes, multiple simultaneous instances are supported, except in the cases where we're prevented from doing so by our agreement with the stream service provider.

We presently expose control interfaces via both TCP/IP and serial connections.

We don't have any Russound expertise in house, but a quick bit of research indicates RNET is a serial-based protocol. While this could be done with our current serial interface, a better solution would be to create a plugin specifically for RNET interfacing. This would hide a lot of the complexities of the RNET protocol and make it easier to configure the interface.

If there were a fair amount of interest in this, this would be something we would hopefully work/partner with someone with expertise in Russound equipment such as a CI.

Feel free to contact me if you're still looking for beta testers.

I've sent you an email...

I just saw the ad for Simpfony scroll across my screen. Searched the forum for Simpfony and found this one, old thread. Anyone tried it out yet?

This thread has had no posts in five years. It's reasonable to conclude that the conversation isn't taking place.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

CEDIA 2016 video: gentleman says Android app available but on their website (and doing a search), there is no app for Android still.

Also (as always), content is king. They only offer a very limited number of streaming apps. Even less than Yamaha's MusicCast (if that were even possible).
Seems to be on par with Dayton Audio's Wi-Fly system - I recently tested that system (since it is so cheap in price) and it sucks balls bad. I actually threw the unit in the trashcan when I was done testing after a few weeks. Waste of $60.

Some info on pricing:

Looks like a Raspberry pi device. This whole system seems very pricey, considering the transport (and having to supply all your own DACs) and the limited services. For 1-4 zones, it's looks actually cheaper to go with the common players (SONOS, HEOS, MusicCast, etc.). For more than 4 zones, still not much of a difference by the time you add in all the kludgy USB DACs and hubs required. Not to mention the mess of wiring and 'piece-togethering' that has to be done.
Am I missing something? Doesn't look very appealing - especially for the price.
