This is frustrating! The HR2 shows up on g! tools network manager, but will not find the controller. It connects to the network.
HR2 192.168.1.11 HC4 192.168.1.2 Router 192.168.1.1
controller software version 6 HR2 v1.0.3.4

Occasionally when the remote wakes up I will get that message for a second or two. But if you are not getting a connection at all, then something is wrong in your settings. Do you have your SSID and password set correctly? You didn't mention them.

Need more info.
I have a system with four HR2s and have no connection issues UNLESS I move a remote out of range of the nearest AP.

I have the SSID correct without security for now. I can see the remote in the g!Tools network scanner.

You followed all the steps to add the HR2(s) to your system configuration?

If its on the network, but not finding the controller, I would think something has to be off on your settings. Like the address of the controller.

Did you set up the HR2 communications device in the configurator?

Chasing Ernie's post count, one useless post at a time. |

Yes, I added the communication device to setup the SSID and the network settings. Do I have setup a second one?

Did you do the procedure where you connect a USB cable to each remote when you are adding the remotes to the system?

just my experience but I ran into that same problem while using an extender. The few HR2's I have done I had to have the HC6 plugged into the same router that I have the HR2 connected to. Even having the HC6 fed by a switch plugged into the router would cause this. G tools would see both of them but they would not see each other. Could very well be my lack of networking experience though. I have had nothing but nightmares with Elan stuff unless the networks are very basic. Also I have not been able to get the system to work at all on actiontec routers like fios uses without adding another router and turning the actiontec ssid off since it doesn't have a bridge mode.

One thing I have learned in this industry. It is easier to pull a wire than it is to push one. |

FWIW bypassing any and all service provider equipment that you can should be standard protocol for any install. Taking the wrong shortcuts on a job will always result in a service call, which we all know is lost revenue that rarely gets made up. my .02

Your router doesn't enter into this. Any WAP that is part of the router may. Elan is clear as to what security options are available.
Except in very special circumstances you don't need another router.
If you are having troubles with the WiFi connection, add another brand of WAP to your network. You don't have to shutdown the WAP (if any) in your router if it is working for most other devices.
One or more switches between Elan devices should also not be problem.
I follow the Elan HR2 integration note and have had no problems. There are quite a few steps to follow. Also pay attention to the WiFi notes regarding security options. You can always start with no security to remove that from the equation.
The HR2 works and works well.

IP settings for sure, subnet mask is something to check on both remote and controller, maybe a mis-type in one of the fields when inputting the parameters?...
I've never had issues having remotes connect, sell a lot of these, one of my systems has 6 of these on an HC12. It helps to use good wifi, apple airports are my choice since they are pretty rock-solid.

Also should add 6.0 firmware is awesome. Android support, more colorful GUIs with nice icons for sources, vast improvements to the internal media player feature set and now more options for online streaming music. (via squeezebox still, but now has spotify, mog, rdio, instead of just rhapsody, pandora, shoutcast support)
