saw it at CEDIA, looked good. i like that the fiber and the hdmi connector are separate. theoretically, if the connector ever changed, you would have the fiber in place to do so. although thinking about it, i bet it is a proprietary connector and not LC,SC,ST, etc. even so, i would still rather have a fiber in place, with ability to change connector.

another thing, i googled the rainbow fish to confirm it was a one piece solution and saw that it is whored out like Charlie Sheen's Goddess'

It is, but in my list I have a "fiber video solution" - $XXX.XX never had it questioned and never asked "what brand it is" customers dont care about the name of cables, they just care about the TV/Projector/AVR the rest they could care less about.

as far as a one cable solution, unless we use a LC/SC/ST connector its not going to matter. Both times ive used a Fiber solution like rainbow fish Ive run conduit, because just like HDMI it can crap out, except it a fiber solution has more things that can go wrong.

I haven't confirmed it, but I am almost positive that I heard that Rainbow was out of biz. If it is true, and the people who have inventory are liquidating, that would explain the pricing.

I hate to even speculate because it's sloppy for me to have posted until I get the news confirmed.

I am 99% sure that this is what I was told a few weeks ago. I reached out to the person I was talking to, so I can get confirmation.

If it's false, I will delete the post(s).

I totally understand man, I hate to say it but from the beginning I never fealt like they could hold on, it's a niche product that only integrators really understand. Even at that I feel integrators are reluctant to try something of its nature. Hope it's false, it's a good no frills product that works plain and simple. I just know it doesn't get much attention anywhere. :(

i saw them at CEDIA. it is a nice piece, much longer distance than Rainbow Fish, but it does have a proprietary connector.

as far as re-terminating their fiber, i guess fiber is fiber or are their differences in fibers that won't allow one to re-terminate it?

i had that thought as well, but meant if hdmi changes for any reason and celerity was still supporting products, they could manufacturer new HDMI, HDxx, xyz, etc. connectors to fit on their proprietary fiber connector.

i bet if they used standardized fiber connectors, it would take off pretty well with CIs. cleerlines kick ass new fiber, field terminable LC connectors and boom goes the dynamite!!!
