Anyone ever find discreet off or on for multi-channel input on Denon or Yamaha? For use with SACD etc.

I am not sure if the direct input will feed zone 2 but this ccf has all the discrete codes for multiroom use on the curreent crop of Denon receivers that support such.---[Link: remotecentral.com]

neither one of those will feed a multi-channel input to room 2

multi channel input is a main room only function

I have only one client who uses the EXT IN, and this is with a Denon AVR3802. In building the ccf for his RC5200 I discovered that a macro of
EXT IN
followed ater 0.1 second by
INPUT MODE
will guarantee that the unit is NOT in the External input mode. That macro is part of every source selection on that client's home page, even the SACD. The SACD has that macro followed by another EXT IN command; first the macro guarantees the unit is not in the Ext In mode, then the unit is switched to Ext In.

I have not played with this kind of approach with the Yamahas. I have sort of assumed it would not work, and not questioned that even after discovering the Denon workaround. However, the newest Yamaha units have the EXT IN command as a toggle, so switching to a different source cancels that command.

It's about time. The locking command was a dumb idea. Incidentally, the first unit I saw this on was the RX-V750.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

The Denon has discrete codes for 5.1ext.

Input mode Ext. in: Device 4 Code 183
Input mode auto: Device 4 Code 179

Sharp Protocall

Ext. mode gets you in and Auto mode gets you out.

Yamaha receivers have discreet on and off for their multi channel inputs, so you don't have as much a macro as the Denons (much friendlier as well). Just search the forum, shouldn't be a problem to find.
