I thought I saw this BD freeze up when we set up the system, but then all was okay. Now three months later, it once more is frozen. Does not respond to any IR commands. Power down revived it. I've got aURC MX-880 and MRF-350 controlling it, and the system is othsrwiserock solid. Have you seen this before?

Thanks in advance.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

The only time I had a client complain about both her LG bluray players (difference model than yours) locking up I did not believe her. I went out to the house and started farting around trying to get them to lock up. I made a startling discovery. If you had a disc in the tray, and were watching netflix, and pressed the "top menu" button, the machines got confused....like why on earth would you want to see the title menu of the DVD while you are watching "Pingu" on netflix? The whole thing would lock up and not do anything until I pulled the power cord and rebooted it. Way to go QC and beta testers! Oh wait....that is us! Thanks to me I guess. :)

Just checking to see anyone else is having any problems with LG 620 players or LG players in general?
Ernie, What did you do to resolve your issue? Just want to get some feedback to see if it's more than an "isolated" problem before I check with my disty, etc.
My problem sounds familiar. Just got a message that she gets an error message when trying to play various dvds. She did also mention that since we installed it (in Sept.-12) that has had to unplug it two or three times because it froze up and couldn't get dvd tray to open!! This sounds very familiar to Ernie's problem???
Maybe LG has a problem with this model...............
TIA for any input

My samsung BD will do the exact same thing when it needs an update and you've skipped a few in the past (and in my case my wife keeps skipping passed them like she doesn't know how to read english).  But that's my wife, I'm sure all of your clients do their regular updates when needed.

Wife: "What does a firmware update do anyway?"
Me: "It updates the firmware"
Wife: "Why"
Me: "Because it needs to"

As I look down at her phone and see that she needs to do about 14 updates on her iphone.

Sorry.  Sore subject.  LOL

Two semi recent issues I've run into (first I've run into, LG is still my go to entry level player have 100+ installed over the last 2 years) .

- One BP620 wouldn't connect to wireless network, bad wifi card, fortunately the issue arrose 2 days after installation...swapped with new one and all is fine so far, a month later.

- Older model I installed for a customer about 18 months ago last week began not properly accessing network apps - kept saying failed to connect, tested the connection worked fine; turns out it needed a firmware update. ran the check update, downloaded update and all is well and functioning again.

Because the people who write those apps that you use, and new ones that you download, write them so they will work on up-to-date phones. If you don't do the update, sooner or later your apps will not work or your phone will turn into a doorstop with a camera.

I can't even remember this problem, nor its solution. A bit of consulting with my calendar wil help.

We had a string of these lock up, all did it after a firmware update. All the them were new so all of them went back to dusty or retailer for replacement.... If memory serves, it was back in July/August.

No issues once then.

So, you had problems AFTER doing the update. That's interesting, others recommend they NEED updating. At this point trying an update will be the firest thing to do. If it doesn't work, time to replace and see if my disty is doing anything about them?
I bought mine in August, right around the same time!!

Oh. I checked the date. It's for a customer who might or might not ever be there and use the system. I showed his PA how to power it down for a reset and she has not had to do that. I figured I'd wait to see if it was necessary again or if it would just die. So far, so far!

Problem rears its head again. SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!!

Another client, to whom I supplied one of these in May 2012 (exactly a year before the other guy above), was not interested in network connection until recently. I was out of the country, so he had his IT person come over a week ago and set him up with Netflix, which took a bunch of time, probably involving updates. All was well until last night, when they were watching Netflix and the player stopped responding to all remote and front panel displays.

He called Netflix, who turned him over to LG, who ran him through everything they could think of, starting with pulling the plug, then hold down the Power button for 30 seconds. I'm going to call him in a minute and have him pull the plug for a good hour or so.

Are there any other ideas out there?

kgossen, what do you sell instead of LG?

I think I have an answer for that one. When you've got a DVD in and you hit Play, you get the DVD. When you're on Netflix, do you hit Play to get the movie to start? If so, then there's a precedent for hitting a button that does something different when you're operating a different part of the machine. A client could very easily want to be looking at the Netflix menu, and what the hell, there are two buttons that say menu, let's hit 'em both and see what it takes to get the menu up. Result: stuck machine.

Gee, I hope when you needed to connect to the internet to do the update, it would still connect to the internet! (You didn't say whether it would not connect to a website or to the internet in general.)

OK hi first off.

So I have an LG BD620 blu ray that's been working just fine up until a week ago. We were watching a movie and after it ended we took the movie out and went into Netflix where it then told me I had no internet connection. We've tried unplugging it, rebooting the router. Pretty much everything under the sun and it's still not finding the wifi yet all other devices are.

Any suggestions would be welcome

Have you tried an ethernet cable?
How long did you leave it unplugged for?

ichbinbose's first suggestion points out a detail you missed. When something says you have no internet connection, that's not one situation.
Your player's wifi receiver might have died.
Your router's wifi might have died.
Connecting with an ethernet cable would sidestep those two problems.

Your internet might be inoperative.
Checking if other devices on your router can get internet will determine if that's the case.

Did you try internet setup, in case the player somehow let go of the wifi connection?
