Just curious if anyone has used these? www.skyvue.com. What are your thoughts or do you have another suggestion. How well do they play with a control system? Specifically Total Control from URC. I will be running it with a balun so what are you guys doing to protect the balun from the environment?

Thanks for any help......

We use Sunbrite many times. I prefer them because they come in black and silver; looks like skyvue has a whole color pallet available. There is a weatherproof enclosure on the back of the TV to stash your balun and also an IR pickup in the enclosure.

I have used Sunbrite for years and recommend them. Discrete IR codes also. I had a project where I bid out a Sunbrite as usual and the customer found a "great deal" on a TV pull mount and skyvue TV so he bought it. The landscape contractor mounted it and I just ran cabling to it and set it up.  When I turned it on its operating noise was annoying and I just looked at the customer and he knew what I was thinking. Then I showed him how to use it and the customer asked if is there any way you can make it easier to operate? I looked at him and explained because there are no discrete IR codes like the Sunbrite this is how it has to work. He stayed quiet for a moment then just said ok that's fine.

So, because Sunbrite offers less colors, you prefer them?
I looked up Skyvue and they offer Black, Silver and seven other colors.

Perhaps you should go back and actually read the whole response.

Skyvue TV's do have discreet IR codes and they use the same RS-232C commands as Sharp indoor TV's.

The 1st generation SkyVue from several years ago had some fan noise, but they cured that in the following series.

Yes, as you can tell, I prefer Skyvue.

I did. Although noting some other features, the reason he said he liked them was because they came in black and silver. I guess I'm just reading it wrong, but it still reads that way to me.

Sorry if my wording didn't make sense to you. Why this is being re-hashed a month later is beyond me.

He asked for other suggestions. I gave a suggestion based on a manufacturer that we have installed several times in all types of climates with great results. I meant I prefer Sunbrite over other brands because they have black/silver as options. Obviously Skyvue does too and other colors, as I clearly noted.

Anything else that you'd like to add short of jumping in on a month old thread to promote a product on your first day?

I didn't realize there was a time limit in making the attempt to clarify and/or correct information that didn't make sense to me or was incorrect.

My apologies, I came across this post in a random search and decided to post.
I guess I should have just started a new thread.

Last time I checked, Skyvue is direct to customer only. They say eliminate the middleman. That would be us. No actual service dept. They claim that the customer can swap out the boards if there is service required under warranty. They will ship out a part. Not my idea of a CI friendly supplier.

you beat me to it! why the hell would we want to sell a part with no margin?

i will say that i like the skyvue and feel i could do pretty decent with them, but until they want to cater to dealers......
I love supporting product that supports me!

First day on site and yes its taking me some time to read as much as possible. So as to what this thread is about on colors on a housing does not sell a product. Still what does is how clear and sharp along with brightness does. I started working for this company when I noticed a difference here. Making a product that does not require a fan and is thin is 1.5” using the latest technology like smart TVs. Common brands that are retro-fitted for the outdoor, giving it a TV look not a commercial box. On top of that Mirage Vision works well with integrators giving them a good percentage on sales and prevents other companies from undercutting you in price. Being in business since 2004 along with Sunbrite really you should only be looking at the two oldest companies in the world that still makes a great outdoor TV not companies that come and go. Look us up we have the lowest price in the market. Just my two cents.

Skyvue uses the same codes as the sharps since the TVs are sharp components and places them in a weatherized cabinet.
