I have a Xantech 590-10 to run a macro on all of my equiptment. But I have a Samsung VCR that requires the user to hold the Record button for 3/4 of a second before it starts recording. I need to incorporate this into my macro, but I cannot find a way to do in Dragon-Drop-IR or in the 590-10.

Currently the 590-10 sends out the command really quick with a delay in between (So I cannot put mutiple commands in a row)

If you have a way of doing this please call me! I will send you $100 for your troubles. If you need the remote that sends out the IR command, I will either get you to use a universal remote, or I can Overnite the remote to you! Please respond ASAP! email or phone!

phone: Rob @ 415-596-1819

I wouldn't normally do this, but I need to install this before the weekend is over in a retail store and I fly out on monday!

Thanks again in advance!

are you sure that the samsung remote doesn't send the record signal out after you hold the button for 45 seconds, instead of having a 45 second long signal?

It sounds like a built-in safegaurd to me... Hold the button for 45 seconds, then the signal goes out just so you KNOW you want to record something, not accidentally record something...

I see in the program that you can import a CCF file. You could try creating a CCF hex code of the record command & repeat the hex text several times in the hex window. Then save & import.

This is just a guess. If it works or not, no payment necessary.

Yeah, there are two ways the remote might currently be working: it only sends the command out after 3/4 of a second (like Ahl says, and this one is easy to work around), or the remote always sends the command and the device ignores it for 3/4 of a second (not so easy to work around).

Since you're not complaining that the record command doesn't work during normal use, it sounds like you have the more difficult of two solutions to work around.

You've tried stacking the commands and it doesn't work due to some sort of default delay.

You could try learning a "feathered" button (rapidly pressing it during learning) but it's likely that the Xantech can't capture a raw signal of that length.

Someone skilled at Pronto IR hex manipulation might be able to hack together a longer transmitting code (you can't just paste the same code over and over) but I don't know if it would import something like that correctly.

A Sony or Mits VCR would cost you less than $100 and both have standard record buttons.

Ok... the Samsung MULTISYSTEM VCR needs the command to be sent for 3/4 of a second... in other words, the remote sends the command out the whole time and the Samsung VCR waits 3/4 of a second before accepting the IR. So Daniel Tonks, the second option is what I have.

The 590-00, it only has 10 step macros, and I need more functions in one macro.

Impaqt, the other VCRs you stated are not Multisystem VCRs. Thanks though.

IF ANYONE HAS A PRONTO THEY COULD CAPTURE THIS COMMAND FOR ME AND SEND ME THE HEX I WOULD PAY YOU THE 100 bucks! Or what Pronto remote should I buy so I can capture the Samsung record... edit the hex on my computer then make it a ccf file then I could import it into Xantechs Dragon Drop IR software.

Aiwa has a multi-system VCR that does not have this problem.

I think.

I just realized we never record anything on it.

Sorry, but this "answer" just turned into "just a thought."
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

I have to second this post, why offer a reward of $100.00, when you can get a brand new VCR that does what you want for under $70.00

Sorry to sound stubborn, but I do need a Multisystem VCR, I already own 5 Samsungs (at 300-500 a pop) would like to stick to them if possible. So buying a 70 cheap VCR will not do as I our retail store makes cassettes for people worldwide.

RTI Installer: What can I do with those Hex commands to convert to CCF or to Xantech codes? Did you use the a samsung VCR remote to get those commands, and did you extend them?

My purpose of offering $100 was because of urgency. I am sorry but it would make my boss really happy if I could solve this ;)

You could try and solder a pair of wires to the record button, then use a remote controled contact closure switch (from xantech or similar) to initiate the record function.

You need a copy of Pronto Edit, it can be found in the downlods section on this site. The hex commands can be pasted into a CCF file in Pronto Edit. Xantech's Dragon Drop software can import CCF files (it doesn't always). Help in using Pronto Edit can be found in the Pronto forum on this site.

You could use the 590-00 for just this button press and the 590-10 for the others. If you have access to a Xantech URC-1, you could test the command to see if the 590-00 will work (I believe they use the same circuitry.)

I think Rob may have your easy answer, but doing it five times? Get to work. It's a great solid way to get things done in a pinch.
