Hello all… I am installing a bose system along with a pronto I hope. But I dought it will work. This is the situation
I am using the bose system for audio since the customer wanted the speakers taken off of the Sony Plasma and for dvd. Also with the bose system is a second zone.
Now my question is. If I use a pronto and use the rf, then will it control the bose? My feeling probably not being that the house code is not on the pronto RF. Then I can change it to receive IR but then that will shut off the ir on the second zone? Answer: YES?
I was also thinking ok everything but the bose and use the bose only for the dvd but then the prob comes with the audio still need the two remotes. Is this the way I have to go? Any input would be great. I told the customer we would run into this problem and he didn’t not care at the time. So now he has 10 remotes and is pissed!!

SO what does one do in this situation?

Thanks again,
Lonny

Thats a Lot of help there oex......

The real answer:

Depends on the bose system.

You cannot directly control a Bose system RF with a Pronto. Wrong frequncy entirely....

Lifestyle 28 and 35 can use IR Control. I think the CCF is in the files section, if not, email me and I'll send it to ya.

If its not a 28 or 35, there still may be hope, AudioAuthority makes a bose IR adaptor that works with many models. [Link: bluedo.com]

Good Luck

Please read the following page, specifically the paragraph titled "Other RF Equipment".

[Link: remotecentral.com]

That being said, there are some CCF files posted here that supposedly control some Bose systems equipped with IR to RF convertors (?) & the proper firmware. I have no firsthand knowledge of this, and a Google search turns up nothing except the usual "don't buy Bose" stuff.

So do a little reasearch and you may find a solution. And remember, customers never know what they really want until you finish the job. Anyone who says they don't mind a bunch of remotes is lying, whether they realize it or not.

Thank you all for your input…
Impaqt it is a 35 system and the Ir can be shut off. But then I’m not sure if zone 2 is affected. For that I will have to call bose.
This adapter on bluedo.com have you tried it? I am just wondering if it works all the time not like the pronto RF converter which works when it wants to. As far as the file, I am going to look that up tonight, I am programming an Elan system now, and cane get my mind off of this.
“Other RF Equiment
All other Radio Frequency equipment, such as most Bose systems, cannot be controlled by any universal remote currently in existence. Don't be confused by remotes advertising RF capability – this is not for the control of RF devices, but rather for controlling IR components from other rooms. The remote sends an RF signal to a basestation in the same room as your equipment, which then rebroadcasts it as infrared. There is no way to consolidate control of an RF-only device into a third-party remote, learning or “

With this being sed will that adapter work? I got this from Doug.

Just wanted to say thank you for your help.

You must control the bos IR. The Adaptor from Bluedo does not work with the LS35. (The adaptor works off IR anyway)

Set the unit to IR, Use the CCF and install IR repeaters for the second zone

What we have found best is to use IR for the main home theater zone with a universal remote, and then use RF remotes for Zone 2. Set the Bose to control the cable box so Zone 2 has RF control of Radio, CD/DVD and cable box. Granted the customer can't control everything from Zone 2, but you can't have everything.

I have used the audio authority peice with an older Bose unit and it has worked great.

So with a Bose Lifestyle 5, is there any hope of
control with a universal remote (ie pronto)? This
is the situation I have with a client in Singapore
(hotel) with 10 rooms installed with the Bose LS 5.

My current understanding is that only the original
Bose RF remote will control it. There is means for
other control of the system (ie IR to RF converter).
Is this correct?
