Hi everybody. Wanted to share this experience so nobody else gets home late because of it. This afternoon, after a few attic crawls in 100+ weather and a mouthful of fiberglass, i went for some end of day, final adjusting and testing of a setup that had been in place for some time and worked flawlessly.

It was about 4:30 and all of a sudden. I had a URC MRF-350 temporarily lose it's ability to route IR. My programming was all correct and macros worked great, except now were going on 5:45 and by this time I had tried everything to stop 2 zone's identical AVRs from responding together. I tried separating the IR wires in the rack, switched from 1/8" mono plugs to emitters (that really made me want to cry) , tech support which was useless, adding delays in the programming, routing everything which was suggested by the tech rep and didn't make sense and was also a waste of time, everything.

So at first I perceived this as the infamous URC IR bleedthrough although I have yet to experience this myself. Then, all of a sudden, I finally notice all emitters are flashing, even commands set to routed ports. This is where it finally starts to resolve itself.

So next I dug the MRF-350 out of a tight spot, couldn't see it before, discovered the status light was SOLID. Please keep in mind the status light on the RFX-250 was only lighting when it was supposed to and I always thought they were supposed to light together.

Unplugged the power adapter from the unit and all was well. What tha...and I always thought a RF base was just a dumb plastic box. Maybe this happened once to me before but I can't place it.

for some reason any MRF-260 I have installed within 30 feet of a timewarner box lockups unless I take the antenna off then it works like a charm. Of course the 350 is a plug in antenna so you don't have the luxury of just leaving the little nub there lol
One thing I have learned in this industry. It is easier to pull a wire than it is to push one.

I have had these RF interference issues too, giving a lock up effect, but this was different, everything works perfect except no routing, a solid status light on the base unit , and normal status light behavior on the antenna unit.

The methods you describe do work well to alleviate EMI, but this was a totally unfamiliar nightmare.

i have been putting a ferrite core on the bluray hdmi cable. RF interfernce went away as soon as i did it. I have had a mrf 350 "lock up" before also, unplugged it , "reset" it
why have a nice system if you cant operate it, program the remote the right way the FIRST time!
