...So my GF is visiting Argentina... she was informed to never pull out cash in public, and she said everywhere she goes she is being watched and sometimes followed (to get robbed)... Lastnight she texted me in a panic because she used an ATM which had one of those things that scans her card and takes a picture of her PIN #! Her account got cleaned out!
...So this morning I had to wire her some $$$ That place is full of scam artists and pickpockets...

Watch the above clip. It's a little scary.

So don't go to Brazil, check. Don't go to Argentina, check. I eagerly await your addition of the list where I will never go. Thanks for helping keep me safe ;-)

Ugh, it's always something. The idea of international travel always seems so appealing to most people...to me, I'm happy just heading "down the road" to San Diego for vacation.

Add Mexico and...and pretty much anywhere that is within a train or dog sled ride of the Ukraine lol

I learned to appreciate the US by spending a bit more than a month in France. It's a nice place, but somehow it just wasn't... right. Or something.

On the other hand, this reminds me of a joke David Brenner told years ago on the Tonight Show. Remember when Times Square was a place to go if you were ready to take your life in your hands? David Brenner said "I saw a guy coming out of a bank, counting the money he had just taken out. He was robbed right there in the square, in broad daylight. Hell, in New York, you don't come out of the bank counting your fingers!"
We can't give you a good answer, or maybe any, without the make and model of everything.

I always check for the tiny cameras and the add on piece for the card swipe. I cant wait to find one so i can smash it up.

Yeah the scammers are getting very sophisticated with the skim devices on ATM's and gas pumps etc.!

LOL

I generally avoid ATMs not affiliated with my bank.

But, now I'm more nervous about restaurants. Crikey!

Hotels too. Just about every time we have to give a credit card to someone at a hotel desk...within 24 hours they are refilling gift cards online. The last one was Kmart and Starbucks.
