Say what you want about Insteon, this is still a great idea.

Yes, and Insteon is pretty good, in any case.

Insteon rocks! Gives people just enough of a taste of lighting control and then I get to go in after someone else installs them and replace them with another manufacturers!

What is that buzzing sound? Oh.....just the lights.....but only when they are on....save on your energy bill by leaving the annoying buzzy lights off! :) I see how that works now.

To me this is an issue (although I'm not sure how else they would do it): "When power is applied to the bulb (either by a lamp switch or wall switch), it will enter linking mode."
It seems to me like you really would have to remove/bypass switches after getting it setup (or put tape over them) to prevent people from using switches and putting the thing in link mode all the time. (I'm probably/hopefully missing something here!)

I could see this as a great technology if it this PLC worked reliably.
Replace switches with controllers, or blanks, and you're done.
Now we all know that the Insteon doesn't work, but if it did...
This might be the proverbial light-bulb to the UPB and RadioRa guys of the next idea.
