I need some small thin TVs for kitchen and baths and the only thing that I've found that fits is LG.

[Link: lg.com]

Manual shows an RF "magic remote", but also shows that there is a "remote sensor" on the front.

Can someone please confirm is these will work with IR control?  Will be used with URC  MSC-400 & MRF-350 base stations.

Thank you,
Paul

I don't know, I haven't tried contacting their support yet.

If it's anything like tech support from the other manufacturers I figured I'd get a faster and more accurate response posting here.

I just googled magic remote, and this thing makes me want to find an LG engineer and punch him in the face. It's another POS gimmick that is going to be a pain in our ass. It does voice, motion, pointing, and wheel scrolling. Just more having to explain to customers why their distributed a/v system doesn't use their smart tv, that in all honestly, they won't use more than 15 minutes any way. Or why their expensive remote won't let them talk to the tv.

Our industry is going to become really freaking cool with the stuff coming out, or manufacturers that refuse to make a product that can be integrated will kill us all

You locate him on a map, I'll bring the saki, pick you up and drive us both there. But we'd probably have to get to Korea, which means I'll be home late for dinner....again

I was told by LG either buy a standard LG remote for $39 or download an app to your phone or tablet. It's a stupid design, because you have to go into the menu to change inputs. It will work with any lg ir remote that you have and you can also use a control system. Due to the poor design and how this thing works, we are kind of shying away from the LG line, plus their price protection is horrible.

Thanks... I'll be using URC control so sounds like I can just grab codes from the database.  I'm not an LG dealer, but using these 32" models because they were the only 32" TVs I could find that were both thin (1.5" or less) and also full 1080p (necessary because they are on HDMI matrix).

I ordered three of them today so will see how they work out.

the tv is controllable by the standard IR codes that they have used for years. I just installed a 47" unit yesteday and I'm controlling it with a C4 system, using IR codes from 2yrs ago.

We are such a small segment of their market that they will gladly ignore us and our customers if they can offer something magical and get another thousand sales off of it. Screw us, we don't matter. After all, doesn't this thread show that we'll overcome their stupidity with zero work on their part?

I'll pay for the gas!

Samsung has also added a silly remote/gesture control to the new ES tvs.

Samsung was also the gang of idiots who, about eight years ago, removed the ability to hit channel up when on a video input and switch to the tuner. Those TVs gave the message "this function is not available." And their discretes weren't all that good at the time, so we still needed that workaround.

Any idea on how to get to the Smart TV features on some of the higher level tv's, the Home button in URC doesn't seem to do the trick?

Sounds like you're misunderstanding the home button. And maybe URC.

What is "in URC" ? URC is a brand with lots of different products. Do you mean one of those remotes? Which one?

And usually a home button on a remote is for the purpose of bringing THE REMOTE to its starting place for use. It's got nothing to do with a home function on the TV.

Reread this thread. It seems they are saying that an IR remote cannot get the Smart TV features.

The LG magic remote does not work all that well for me.

I may be schizophrenic, but at least I have each other.
