I need to utilize the HDMI out on an Xbox360 and throw the analog audio into the control system amp.
Any suggestions on a black box that will allow me to break out the analog audio while passing HDMI video?

Atlona?
Audio Authority?

Not a name brand and no pass through (so you need an HDMI splitter) but may be worth looking at:

That's exactly what I need. Is anyone aware of something from a manufacturer worth dealing with? I'm not real comfortable with a no name solution.

You could do it with a Crestron DMCI and DM-HD-DSP.

Drum roll, please: for how many hundreds of dollars? And no programming, I hope?
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

I was going to say it may violate the HDMI licensing agreement to convert any part of the content to analog, but I guess it's ok to convert the audio if Crestron is doing it.

So every BluRay that had analog audio out along with HDMI was braking the law?

No, that's different. In one case, you are converting an HDMI signal to analog audio. With BluRay, you are outputting two different streams - one happens to be HDMI and the other happens to be analog audio. Just like how a BluRay player is allowed to output HDMI and Component video simultaneously, but an AVR cannot receive the signal as HDMI and output it as Component.
If it's not simple, it's not sufficiently advanced.

Awesome! Exactly what I need.

After a little research it appears that the Microsoft version is not available and all of the aftermarket versions have a problem that causes the Xbox to reset if the TV is powered down or an input changed. The exception to this is the Monoprice piece.

Go figure!

I ordered it. Thanks bro.

aren't you always complaining about manufacturers making stuff that just doesn't work as advertised. Maybe you should try buy better stuff??

Just FYI - the solution would be $1400 MSRP for both parts. These are DM Cards designed to be part of a switch system, but can act as standalone solutions when needed.

The problem I see is that many other solutions may only work if the signal is PCM2.0 which you could force the source device into, but you lose surround sound formats for the HDMI surround sound zone.

Why did you not do this? The Geffen optical to analog piece works great, I've used probably 30 of them.
Who says you can't put 61" plasmas up on cantilever mounts using toggle bolts? <---Thanks Ernie ;)

A cheaper Crestron solution with no programming.

very good point! imagine how much better off the industry would be if we were all selling products that worked and were profitable!! i am happy to sell a $1400 box to convert any hdmi signal embedded with any audio signal and know it will work as i have designed.
