Hi,

I will be attending the Cedia Expo in the US in September.
I currently work in the UK (England) and would like to know whether anyone has experience of the courses that may be more relevant, useful to my market as general building construction is slightly different.

My general interests for courses include computer networking, room acoustics and cinema installation.

I would also be interested in Management / custom installation software.

Are there any particular courses that stand out in terms of quality and usefulness.

I am currently a Cedia Designer so courses focused around that area would also be of interest.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Chris.

The CEDIA Schedule is now up at
[Link: cedia.net]
I have yet to go to a class at CEDIA that was not benificial in some way. Look at the classes, list which ones you may be interested in, and then we may be able to be more helpful. You may also try www.integrationpros.com for more info.

If you want to take a good class on room acoustics, take one with Tony Grimani (I'm not sure if he is doing one of these classes this year or not, but he gives a great class).

Almost every class I have taken at CEDIA has been very good, with the exception of a CAT-5 class; very BORING.

The best class I ever had at CEDIA was the class on HVAC. Go figure.

7 steps to home theater is a regular class that is pretty good.

The "Games are IT" class last year stank to high heaven.

As far as computer networking, the classes taught by gordon van zuiden are good for beginners but rarely get to more advanced topics.

Chuck Back from M&K always does solid accoustics classes.
i wanna go home now

Thanks all,

Have downloaded the new schedule and I will be looking through the details.

I am interested in one of the Sunday courses
titled:

How to Successfully Pull Off
that $100K Integrated System

CEU Value: 3.5 units

Course Code E08X

Instructor: Todd B. Adams
• CEO of DIpartner.com

The course lasts all day so would have to be worthwhile.

Does anyone have any experience of this course or its instructor.

Thanks.

cmo, from the course description I can't tell whether "pulling off a $100k" system means selling one or installing one. I took a similar course w/ Russ Herschelman several years ago on selling one. My fault, I was ezpecting a magic formula, and got a lot of common sense stuff about where to locate rich people and how they're different from you and me. There was some good information, but most of it you could figure out on your own. Bottom line, to land the big ones, you have to be ultra-professional in every detail, network like crazy w/ every high-end trade out there, and have the huevos to approach them when the time comes.
How hard can this be?
