I have a customer that has a KXTA1232 panasonic telephone system and wants to add voicemail. Will the KX-TVS50 work with this system. Second, how complex is the voicemail system to program, and can it be programmed through the phone system and/or computer. If can be with computer is it easier. Last question, how can I get my hands on a installation and setup manual asap. I wen to the website and could not find it. If by any chance somebody has it available on disc could you email me it to me. Thanks so much for any help.

The TVS50 will work fine with the 1232A . You use hyperterminal to program the TVS50, it can't be done through the phone system. Check your email.

Check to make sure your supplier offers tech support. Programming a voice mail can be daunting.

You will use your computer, via hyperterminal. Make sure you have appropriate null modem cable. Make sure you have open extensions, and connect to the correct extensions.

If your supplier did not offer enough tech support to be able to answer your initial question, or to refer you to the proper Panasonic telephone number, you should find another supplier!
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

I tried a TVS50 once, and tried to figure it out myself. It was a pain in the a$$. You will lose out on labor for your 1st one, I can almost guarantee you that. But my buddy does them and told me it's just a steep learning curve, and they aren't so bad afterwards.

I installed a TVS50 with a 624 system and - apart from discovering midway through that I had a flakey 624 - had no major obstacles. I echo previous advise: buy from a supplier who'll back sale with tech support. You will have questions, believe me. I read the manuals cover to cover more than once, and can tell you that they don't hold all of the answers (at least not for my particular application).

Some observations on the TVS50:
Very powerful system with loads of features, most of which will go unused in the home environment. Because it is targeted for office use, it can be a bit clumsey to use in the home. For example, each mailbox must be assigned a PIN to prevent outside callers from accessing messages, as you'd expect; unfortunately, users must enter PIN when at home, too. You may find that you'll need to create documentation for your client for such common tasks as changing "outgoing message" presenting callers with mailbox selections. Handing the customer the fat Panasonic manual replete with all the features they'll never use probably won't cut it.

None of this is to say that the TVS50 isn't appropriate for home use, just that it may not be perfectly suited. On the other hand, I don't know of any "perfect" system.

One point others might expound on: depending on age of 1232 system, an updated firmware ROM may make for tighter integration with TVS50.

Thank you all for your help, thanks a ton to bluecube for sending me info. My supplier has already helped, they called the next day to let me know that they will walk me through step by step if at all nec. Capitol Sales is the dist. I will be buying from. Thank god my old partner has about 15 years programming telephone systems, he just needed info on the panasonic before he committed on installing and programming. Once again thanks for the help.

I recommend the Panasonics because they are relatively bulletproof and also pretty consistent. The only drawback I find is the huge price of the proprietary cordless phone.

If you become familiar with one Pana KSU, chances are good that you will be able to figure out how to make programming mods on other models, in a pinch, without the manual. I have even used the manual from one model that had no references to the new phones being used and been able to figure it out.
