Acoustic Techniques for Home and Studio, by F. Alton Everest. TAB books ISBN 0-8306-0696-3, or 0-8306-1696-9 (paperback). Goes from first principals to practical applications. Google it and you can find it used.

The Handbook of Acoustics is fantastic. I forget the author, beleive it was published by Mcgrall Hill. If you need more info send me an email and I will pull it up.

Sencore has bundled the Home Audio Acoustics (HAA) program with the Imaging Science Foundation (ISF) course. [Link: sencore.com]

I entered the course with a strong background in video and limited knowledge about acoustics. The course was well worth the two large to me.

My copy is called "The Master Handbook of Acoustics" 3rd edition by Everest. Also try "The Audio Cyclopedia" and "Modern Recording Techniques". These books also have a plethora of info on acoustics and room treatments.

This isn't what you asked but since the good books have been listed IF you have a situation where you are being asked to design a theater or music room for the first time, I recommend hiring an acoustician at LEAST the first time. They will help you design the room, you can focus on the equipment, and you won't have to be learning on the customer.
