Anyone have experience using buried subs?  I've got an outdoor job coming up that will be 70v and the client is going to want more bass in 1 or 2 of the zones.

I can run additional wiring and add amps to drive 4-8ohm subs if necessary.  This seems like a better idea than trying to use a 70v sub so I can apply a high-pass filter feeding out to the full range speakers.

First thought is Sonance. I thought I had seen Sonance Landscape in some of your past installs?

The LS10SUB and LS12SUB are both buried and 70v. I have only ever installed the LS12SUB and it was awesome.

Look at terra. Better IMHO. 70v mains and 8 Ohm sub powered by a crown cdi1000

Yeah, this would be a perfect canidate for Sonance Landscape series. Im a dealer and they are incredible.

70v to everything, including the sub! You have to use their Crown CDi since its been loaded with the audio program. Essentially plug and play!

We did a James sub recently that sounded nice, and they are built in Napa...

I like that Sonance system too.  Saw it demo'd at one of my reps.  I almost crapped my pants when he told me the price, but it was nice.

Heard both James and Sonance. Both are impressive.majames is easier to acquire. I know like the 70 volt but try for the 8 ohm. For some reason it sounded much better.

IMHO

-James and Sonance are the best IMO. Both systems are totally flexible to install with 70 volt options. Both sound totally amazing! This thing is the size of a dog house! [Link: jamesloudspeaker.com]
-Terra is huge! But they do sound very nice.
-Niles is has a sub/sat system but I haven't heard it yet. I will spec it into a budget job but I haven't heard it yet.

Whatever you decide make sure you follow the mfg's installation spec's. We did the minimum pea rock and sand the the sub completely heaved out of the ground after the first sign of frost. I realize you live in a different climate but I thought I would bring it up.

I don't know if I've got the budget for Sonance or James.  Aren't the buried subs from these manufacturers $2k+ list price?

If I add the subs, I think I'll need two and price point will need to be closer to $750ea or less.

In the past I've used JBL SB210 subs hidden under eaves or decks, but really need a buried solution this time for aesthetics.

Has anyone tried the new sub from Niles?

Ive heard it and its a total joke. Might as well install bose freespace 51's for an all in one solution :)

Sonance reps usually have a demo system and are willing to bring out a system to demo it for the customer. Ive used this twice and by doing that they sold instantly.

The Niles is over priced as well. Their quality of product and QC has gone to crap. We just installed 6 of the "New" rock speakers RS8siPRO's and 2 were bad, one had only 1 tweeter playing and the other had a popping woofer.

They did come out with a system similar to the sonance and is kind of pricey

the 4" satellites are 399.00 retail each and the 10" sub is around 749.00. 70/100 volt transformers are additional

The sonance system is pretty awsome.
The letters T and G are very close to each other on a keyboard. This recently became all too apparent to me and consequently I will never be ending a work email with the phrase "Regards" again.
