Installed an ATV 3 on a customer's Crestron system last week. We used the Gen 2 codes and they were working fine......The ATV locked up on the client yesterday so he did a reset. Now the codes don't work. Codes are pulsing the IR emitter fine but nothing....... Are there different remote addresses by any chance? I looked in the settings and nothing that jumps out at me.....

Not sure about atv3 but prior versions required you to unpair the provided remote from the atv.

To unpair your Apple TV from a remote You can use any Apple Remote to unpair Apple TV from a remote. Note: If you lose the Apple Remote that you paired with Apple TV, a replacement remote will not work until you unpair Apple TV from the lost remote.

Press and hold the Menu and Previous/Rewind buttons on a white Apple Remote for 6 seconds, or the Menu and Left buttons on an aluminum Apple Remote for 6 seconds.

You can also use these steps:9

1. Choose Settings > General > Remotes from the Apple TV main menu.

2. Choose Unpair Apple Remote.

When you’ve successfully unpaired a remote, Apple TV displays a broken chainlink symbol (

You can now pair Apple TV with a different remote.

AppleTV's do NOT have to be "Paired". Pairing them is just a function thats available if you are using multiple Macs or ATV's in close proximity.

In an unpaired state, an ATV will respond to any standard Mac/ATV remote (Or Mac remote codes)

So the ATV needs to be in an unpaired state?

Just factory restore the unit. If it does not work after that your programming is funky, the emitter is bad or in the wrong spot or the unit is shot. AppleTV commands have been the same since day one.

Correct. If you are controlling an ATV with a remote other than the factory Apple remote, the ATV should be in "Unpaired" mode.

It's jailbroken so the customer doesn't want to do a restore. It's being controlled by an AADS-XM so I changed out the IR and same problem. Tested from debugger and it's firing. It worked up until the unit froze and he reset it. The factory remote works but not the ir driver....strange

Is it currently paired to the factory remote?

Settings: General: Remotes: First item should say "Pair Apple Remote" for your system to work with it. If it says "Unpair" Click that with the OEM remote.

LOL jailbroken = T&M...nice!

OK so we are clear....if it is paired to factory remote the menu option should say "Unpair" you need to choose that with the factory remote so that it says "Pair Apple Remote". Then it will work with any ATV command set. If not his jailbroken science project is costing him more than the thing is worth :-)
