Well, they are in our city this week and thought I would share this. Pretty cool little car. Boring job? Or exciting job?

Ive seen them around alot over the past year around my area.

i would say painfully boring, I did read though that the drivers make $75-$105 per hour. Hell for that i would gladly sit in a car and drive in circles all day lol. pretty low stress job i would imagine.

That's not for regular Google Map, just Street View. They came by here like a year ago. Still no Street View within my neighborhood though. On the main street that my neighborhood intersects with does however.

I've seen them around a couple of times. I want to drive by one in a company van and remember where it was so I can link to it on our website. I had the perfect location when driving past one just off Rodeo Dr in Beverly Hills but I never did find it online.

I've been seeing their GPS self driving cars around recently. Pretty cool. I REALLY want my car to drive me around, i could be SO much more productive.

I had a friend that used to work for T-Mobile and all he did was drive around with this "briefcase" that had a bunch of different phones mounted in it. He just drove up and down streets and it logged signal levels at different locations. He didn't process the results or analyze anything, just drove around and knew how to turn the equipment on and off. This was about 12 years ago and he was clearing, AFTER taxes, over $5k/month. I saw the checks.

Also wouldn't be surprised if the drivers are contractors and they get paid a piece rate that breaks down to $75+ per hour.
