Hi,

I recently wrote up a system proposal for a client with the Kenwood DV-5900M DVD changer. Apparently, they are all back-ordered and no one has a clue as to when they will be available again - if ever.

Unless you folks know differently, I have a feeling that product's life cycle is over, and Kenwood is bringing out a new model. Any ideas as to when this will occur, or if I'm wrong, when the DV-5900M will be available again?

Thanks,

Dawn

I did a quick search, and this site was the first that claimed to have one in stock. It's called a "B" stock, and there's a 5900 and an Entre, at $700 each.

I wouldn't hold your breath for the Kenwood Sovereign stuff. I get the feeling that they've lost interest in that line.

I spoke to Kenwood USA this past week, they are planning on a new product release in 2005. The 5900M has reached end of life.

I ended up getting a 5050 for my client instead. I wonder if we'll see the new Soverign line at CEDIA?

The new Sovereign line was introduced at CEDIA. Very nice equipment. I have installed several Sovereign components and have expressed to Kenwood the need to keep the line moving forward.

Whatever Kenwood does, it's going to be a tough sell to their former dealer base. They've abandoned pretty much everything other than car stereo and HTB's for three years now.

over here (england) it's increasingly difficult to buy anything kenwood, their range is limited to car stereo equipment and kitcen equipment !!

within the realms of Pioneer / Sony / Marantz, how does the kenwood range of kit rate ?? on a scale of 1/10 ???

hope this doesnt deviate from the exsisting post too much,

kind regards,

Jonathan.

We have a few kenwood pieces in stock that we will sell, its in our stock due to the kenwood reliability---->poor. we have had nothing but trouble with the soviergn line,
had installed 4 entres in 4 homes...replaced all 4 at least once several times, 2-3 on one job, all of our DV5700 5 disc players have been replaced on all jobs at least once, one job have replaced it 6 times..customer wants all kenwood out and new brand in.
DV5700M have had 3 of 4 go bad, the 4th isnt used by custoner much..Hence the stock one for back up...waiting for it to die.

Kenwood I have sold for years and never had trouble like this.....Sorry to say, Kenwood has lost its place in our installs. getting replacements was a whole different story, as some of you mentioned..most places were out of stock including kenwood. try to explain a failed product to a customer then explain you cant replace it due to no availability...and then say it could be a few days to a few weeks or longer on a receiver that they use daily, on a dvd that they use to library their DVDs, on an entre that they have 2 DV5900Ms connected to with 700 DVD's and CDs in and they have to remove them all for awhile...Gets old

I agree. I've sold 7 pieces in 4 years and have had to service or replace 5 of them.

Are any new?
Does Kenwood still honor the warranty?
How much?

PM if you prefer.
