I have a SPECO #/DVR-4TN160 that was given to me by a customer, 2 yrs ago, that upgraded to a MAC compatible unit. This older DVR has been sitting around the shop for a while doing nothing. Want to give it to a customer who has had a lot of trouble with with a SPECO IP Camera that Speco unable to fix or replace under warranty.

Unfortunately, don't know & cant find documentation for password so we can get in & reformat drive. Speco default doesn't work. Speco tech support wants us to send in & charge to be reformatted.

Anyone out there no if the secrete to getting around sending to speco & being charged to blow out password?

A friend who does commercial suggests two possibilities:

1. Call ADI. They push Speco and so might be able to help you.
2. If nothing else, remove the hard drive and do it manually, if you can find the software.

Also, are Gman-North's suggestions the defaults? If so, try 1111, 0000, the reverse of the ones Gman suggests... any dumb or easily rememberable ones that could come to mind.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

I have done all of your suggestions before posting but the interesting idea of taking out the hard drive & trying to blow out the data without the operationgs system sounds interesting. We look into that. I get back to you guys in a few days & let you know how it goes.

How about 'password'? I saw that when I opened the ports for a DVR- the amusement company had set that as the router's password (it was theirs, for the network jukebox).
My mechanic told me, "I couldn't repair your brakes, so I made your horn louder."
