we just installed a lutron QS motorized shades system.
we would like to control them via our crestron system over IP.

i have the lutron QSE-CI-NWK-E that has network and RS232.

what are the steps we should take to control the lutron shades?

do i have to do any lutron programming first?
what module do i use on the crestron side?

thanks in advance if anyone can help.

Motech, you have to set it up on the lutron side first. On the Crestron side just send the commands from the lutron setup. I don't believe there is a module available for them. At least not in Crestrons database. You would probably need a CAIP for a module.

I lied. Looks like Lutron has a module now for the homeworks QS system. Maybe give them a call and see if they have one for the shades as well.

Motech,

The best way to control the shades is with a RA2 main repeater. Use the RA2 software to program the shades and set limits.

Lutron has a very good module on their resi.lutron.com/radiora site.
Pm me if you don't have access to that site and I will send it to you.

QSE-CI-NWK-E

Radio RA2 and QS use the same protocol to speak to QS shades. Radio RA2 can only communicate with wireless QS whereas Homeworks QS can communicate with either or both.

Homeworks QS ( and Radio Ra2 ) are integrated via integration numbers the software assigns to keypads, and individual devices, including lighting loads and shades. An other method is to communicate via serial number but this can be cumbersome if you wish to control a group of shades, hence the use of integration IDs and keypads, where you'd program the group to a button and have the control system press than keypad button.

1. Place the file in this directory...C:\Program Files\Crestron\Simpl\Usrsplus

2. Open the file with SIMPL+ and build it (make sure you target the build for the contoller you are using, xgen, series 2 or series 3).

3. Open SIMPL and the Lutron QS module will be listed under user modules
