The codes section of this site has discretes that work for Sony VCRs and Sony DVDs. Try the ones for DVD first, then the ones for VCR. If that doesn't work then use eBay to dump the toad and get separates.
Manufacturers don't necessarily consider discrete requirements when they design their combo or all-in-one boxes. The market that they are shooting for tends to be less sophisticated and would have no need for dicrete power codes.
I had a customer that brought one home and wanted me to connect it. The only thing it responded to was punt kick. Be sure you have your boots on so your foot doesn't get stuck in the VCR slot.
I may be schizophrenic, but at least I have each other.
I ran into one of those on a contract where i was selling a bunch of demo stuff and programming a 3000. Turned out GIVING him a vcr and dvd player (with discretes) was a more cost effective solution than trying to teach him how the system operated and why the combo worked the way it did.
I know we are cool and we know our stuff and all that, but
why?
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything. "The biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place." -- G. “Bernie” Shaw
