you can also call directv and ask for it!!!! Ya, LOL. Have you ever demanded a certain model from DTV? Wont happen. They CANNOT guarantee a specific model. Dumbest thing I have EVER heard from a provider. "Oh, you want a 35? Sorry, you will get what the installer has on his truck." Crazy huh? However, we have never not gotten what we wanted. Installer arrives. Dont have what we want? Dont do install, come back when you do. Amazing how they always have it on the truck, just so happens.

HR34's are available at solidsignal for purchase.... Not exactly. HR-34s are in the list of items which solidsignal has printed, and although they are heavily backordered, they will be happy to add your name to the list. At the bottom. They're the company I referred to, saying they have not had enough units to fill orders, let alone play with one.

Amazing how they always have it on the truck, just so happens. this is totally different. you can specififcally ask for this unit. you are correct though . typically, when you are asking for a specific version of a box that has 4 models all currently supported and shipping and they all work exactly the same, they will not give you specific model numbers. the 34 however is totally different and can be requested however like KVH has stated, they are only available for new customers this minute. if you work with a good satellite guy, you can get your hands on one right now.

They're the company I referred to, saying they have not had enough units to fill orders, let alone play with one. I didn't say "in stock". Back order or not...... you can "eventually, possibly, at some point" get one from solid signal before DTV will offer one to a current subscriber.

Has anyone gotten the HR34 IR Input to work with the MSC-400? I've set it up with the OPPO cable and get nothing.

Connecting the HR34 to a blaster output will not work, this input is for straight data without a carrier frequency. This is the same system used for communications between Xantech blocks and IR input (eye) devices, however since Xantech uses 12V it won't be directly compatible to the Xantech bus either. Xantech does make a converter though which I believe is the part needed: [Link: xantech.com]The above converts an emitter output to a 5V data signal. I will order one of these and post back if it works. Since it takes an regular IR blaster as input it should be compatible with any brand such as URC, etc.

I am a current subscriber, out of contract. Called the other day to get one and they are installing it on Wednesday afternoon. Was able to talk them into 1 genie and 1 client for free. Had to threaten to cancel before they were willing to do it.

So much for that, the 28EXT doesn't work. The wiring is right with the swap connector so it should follow, assuming DTV follows a common standard. So unless my reciever is broken this is another case of a non-standard application or the function of the IR input isn't implemented in the reciever software yet.
Does anyone know what device DTV says will work on it? I've yet to hear.

Any progress on this? I've read everything I can find with no answers yet. Someone must have found something to work.
