I would only say that the only hassle dealing with a BC based distributor with only a warehouse in BC is time and shipping costs.

Hopefully Staub's business in eastern Canada continues to grow to the point they can justify opening an eastern warehouse. Just look at Positive AV, they have a western warehouse.

Went to your website... Home Theater is misspelled... just sayin'

The spelling used is sometimes called the Queen's English. This form of English spelling is usually the original form of the English word and is still widely used throughout the world in English speaking countries such as Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, India ..etc. to name a few (all former British Colonies). The US/American dialect form of spelling could be considered an exception, in the English language, rather than a rule.

The following are few examples of different spellings

Theatre
Labour
Favour
Flavour
Colour

Cheers

...and there was a movement in the US in the late 1800s to simplify spellings. Color and Labor, etc. caught on, while actually changing the spelling of through to thru, etc, did not catch on.

Being serious for a moment, though, yes, sure, it's spelled* "theatre" in UK-centric countries, and it really is found both ways in the US. What is not found is the way it was used in that web site: one time theater, another time theatre, both on the same page. I know he wants a search to be successful, but I've heard of that being accomplished by putting key words like on the background of the page in the background color, that is, being invisible to the eye but visible to google.  And let's not forget webcrawler.  Or is that webcraughler?

For the sake of seeming to be aware of the spelling, or being consistent, spell it one way in the text.  Hide the other spelling where a search will find it.

*Spelt is also an acceptable Britnoid variation of spelled.  That's exactly why I used it in my first post.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

In the early days of Google, you could do it that way but now if you hide text as you have described, Googlebot considers it spam and you are very likely to be penalized or even delisted for this methodology.

Unfortunately, proper writing and site optimization can sometimes conflict. If it is a contest of traffic vs. proper English...I'll take the traffic anyday :)

Ernie, your point of having alternate spelling is well made if the company that Gman works for were pursuing international clients. This company predominately serves the Kingston region within eastern Ontario and the local clients will most likely spell theatre the way it appears on the web site.

If Snap were in Ontario I would definitely be buying more from them.

+1.

I'm close enough to the Mississauga distributors that I can stop buy in person a couple of times a week. They know me to see me and on the phone. It's nice. I rarely have to ship, and as pointed out returns are a breeze. I'm interested on Snap but it would be better if they were in the GTA.

It's only the time that’s a prob, if it's just for stock it's not a big deal, when I order from 21st or Lin Haw it's takes like a week. Staub is a good place.

If your on the east give the guys a call at Plan B distribution for snap gear. They are here in mtl. Not sure whats up with the website but I notice they are on facebook.

There are actually two distributors in Canada. One of course is Staub electronics and then there is Distribution Plan B which is located in Quebec. Both of which have great staff and are very helpful! Hope this helps for some of you guys on the East coast!
