Here is the John Birch Society ">presenting it's case against the UN, starring none other than the GOP's current front runner that has serious problems with racism and anti-Semitism, Ron Paul.

Seems odd.... if the UN is focused on world domination, it's doing a really crappy job. Maybe that's because of the heros at the John Birch society standing for freedom and liberty!

So Ryan I was curious, (this is a little off topic for this thread). What is your go to rig for recording when you are writing new songs?

I am a Reaper fan, but my brother just gave me his whole Mac pro tools rig, farm cards the whole works, which has most of the Major hi end plug ins already installed on it, so I am going to force myself back that direction. i never felt pro tools was all that creative especially with sequencing but i cant argue with free.  :-)

UN world Domination?  Kind of a stupid assumption right out of the gate!

UN global domination simply does not work very well from a logistical stand point. A room full of Representatives who do not agree very often on hardly anything as a majority, some how conspiring with each other behind closed doors to rule the world. Lets not forget that some of these folks are enemy's on their home turf.

Yes there are agreements made as bargaining chips for the US and other countries when it comes to stuff like education policy's and international parks management. and yes there are 188 participant countries under the Interpol flag for which the acting representative in this country is the attorney general.

But come on, if you want to talk about any chance of world domination, you have to go where the real money is, and that is all you really need to know. Because that path will eventually lead to the answer you are looking for. But honestly, there is a lot of truth in the saying (ignorance is bliss).

It's all good.

Sure great disagreements can spawn terrible wars, but they can also inspire deeper understanding & trigger inventive reasoning. They push us to look harder at all of the simple details we take for granted. One can only hope that all disagreeing parties can walk away with a better understanding of themselves and the others whom they share the same air with.

It interesting that you commented on this 'left agenda,' specifically since it is more 'mindless, controlling, and targeted to the weak and simple minded.' It is very clear that the fear of a one world government is being exploited to foment distrust of scientists and science, as I have been pointing out over my last several posts.

That is by definition controlling and targeting the weak and simple minded, no?

That is not a leftist agenda, it's a conservative agenda. Is this OK with you?

LOL, you make it sound like this is just an issue about scientist/global warming. Oh the gift of cherry picking idealism. Funny. How is it "by definition" related to targeting the weak? You are suggesting that anyone who reads/believes the discrediting is weak? Maybe, maybe not but thats not "by definition." Again, I've made no reference to my point having anything to do with global warming.

More specifically, how is it you know so much about the leftist agenda? Did you attend any meetings where this world domination was discussed? Do you spend a bunch of time reading leftist thinkers and come to this conclusion after assessing all this information? It may sound like I'm mocking you, and honestly I am a little bit. But seriously.... where is this one world dominating leftist agenda to control all the sheeple come from? Do you take Agenda 21 as some framework to create a one world government?

Does it matter? Is there a test? United Nations? LOL. I have no interest in learning why you believe what you believe. Why? Because you believe what you believe, for whatever reason. If we do down that road it simply turns to discrediting sources, etc. Worthy? Possibly. Worth the time and effort? Not at all, better things to do. Should the mood come, then we can go down that road. It doesnt take much effort to study communism, progressives and their history, One World Society and the Soros money trail.

I ask because it seems strange to learn about liberalism and leftist thought from a conservative, and vice versa. It appears there is something about the left you know that I don't. Meaning, I'm sure some of my liberal friends would get a laugh out of your ideas of their beliefs.

It is not my desire to educate your liberal friends or even learn how or why they may have succumbed to brainwashing. They can spout what they believe, it wouldnt make them right. Laughing would be the typical response expected. Most have not studied what they believe, they simply jump on the bandwagon of their surroundings.

That's a non-answer. I don't know what you mean by 'cherry picking idealism'  either, it doesn't make sense.

I asked a pretty clear question: using your definition of more mindless, more controlling and more targeted to the weak and simple minded, are conservative aligned groups taking advantage of weaker minded individuals (who fear one world government forces/socialists) to brainwash them into denying global warming?

It's a simple question. I don't know why you won't answer. So what is your whole point of being in this thread? Making an equivalence about leftist agendas too.

You could back that up with some evidence beyond merely stating it as if it is true. This is called myth.

Does it matter? Is there a test? United Nations? LOL. I have no interest in learning why you believe what you believe.

Then why mention my beliefs or question them? You have no interest in learning why I believe what I believe but you do have an interest in identifying my beliefs and categorizing my belief system, even to go so far as implying or calling me a liberal. Like it matters. How about we talk about the subject and talk to each other on a personal level instead of categorizing each other? You seem to know a lot about liberalism but I sure doubt you talk to them. You laugh at them a lot though, LOL!

That's sure an ironic response loaded with contempt and ridicule. But you sure know a lot about liberalism, no? Bravado is not a replacement for reason.

You'll figure it out.

Again, global warming is not a topic I chose to discuss yet you keep referring to it even after I've stated no interest in a global warming discussion.

It's a simple question. I don't know why you won't answer. So what is your whole point of being in this thread? Making an equivalence about leftist agendas too.

I will repeat what you said "makes no sense."

You could back that up with some evidence beyond merely stating it as if it is true. This is called myth.

I've stated no myths. If you believe something to be a myth, research it.

Then why mention my beliefs or question them? We ended the implying youre a liberal discussion. At least I thought we did. I do laugh a lot at liberals. I have studied it and find ZERO use for the philiosphy. It doesnt work, it cant work. It wont work. It should never work here as its not the basis of the founding of this country. Is that enough for you or do I need to submit a thesis? Is it a requirement to have a history reviewed of my readings, studies and findings? Why? It is what it is. Accept it or dont. Ridicule or dont. Bash or dont. Doesnt matter to me.

That's sure an ironic response loaded with contempt and ridicule. But you sure know a lot about liberalism, no? Bravado is not a replacement for reason.

Follow the money. Study who funds what activities, agendas. Bravado? LOL. Oh thats a good one.

No side is innocent. Each side has its agenda and the means and methods to promote it. Right or wrong. Left or right.

You'll figure it out.

No I won't if you don't explain what you mean. I still don't have any idea what 'cherry picked idealism' means or what you meant by it. I guess it wasn't that important.

Again, global warming is not a topic I chose to discuss yet you keep referring to it even after I've stated no interest in a global warming discussion.

Global warming is not the subject now. The subject is the left agenda to be more mindless, more controlling and more targeted to the weak and simple minded however. You changed the subject, it's how we ended up here.

I presented an example of the right presenting information to the mindless, controlling and targeted to the weak and simple minded, which coincedentally happens to be a key issue discussed in the last few pages of posts and is a subject you choose not to discuss.

But that subject that you choose not to discuss is not the subject now, it's an example of what we actually are discussing. Should I take is as an acknowledgement on your part that right is exploited and controlled since you said 'the left agenda to be more.....?'

Since you said more, that means we have a point of reference, which is the case I made of climate denialism being fomented in conservative circles.

So again, I pointed out that we have information being presented to weak minded individuals, and your response is to say 'I'm not talking about global warming.' Gotcha.

How about you present some examples of what you're talking about?

No side is innocent. Each side has its agenda and the means and methods to promote it. Right or wrong. Left or right.

This is a statement without distinction because it's universally true. The left has an agenda. The right has an agenda. They sure do. The tide goes in, the tide goes out.

It's an odd response to a clear case that there is a lobby pushing disinformation to a large portion of our populace, exploiting their ignorance and fear of  government by creating myth and falsehoods. This is not in dispute, there's a record of this. But you choose not to discuss it, I suppose because the group being exploited for their ignorance and manipulated are conservatives. I'm left with no other logical explanation since you choose not to discuss it.

So how about we move onto examples of the left agenda to be more mindless, more controlling and more targeted to the weak and simple minded? Profound claims require profound evidence. The campaign to deny global warming is a pretty significant event, but you said the left's agenda is worse than that, more mindless, more controlling.

Actually, I came here, upon reflecting several times on the title of this thread and the first few posts, to point out that the original concidence, that is, co -- -- incidence, happening at the same time, that was the impetus for this thread, is so very loose and disconnected that it reminds me of the theory that the amount global warming is reversely proportional to the quantity of pirates in the world.

This theory is expounded at the website that proposes that the universe was created by the Flying Spaghetti Monster. This theory cannot be disproven.

And think about it -- the rise of pirates and pirating activity since the announcements and scares about global warming corresponds pretty neatly to the conclusions of research since that time that there is no global warming, but perhaps even global cooling!

Remember, it's the pirates!

Is the globe actually warming? Scientific data says yes. This is not up for debate.

Is humanity responsible for the rising temperature of the globe? Most scientists say yes. On one hand i want to believe that the scientists know what they are talking about. On the other hand the experts once thought the earth was flat. I personally don't know enough about global warming to do any sort of testing myself.

Back in the day if the experts told me to to sail to far or my boat would fall off the earth i would have listened to them. Today i intend to do the same with global warming. If you dont think humanity is causing global warming then that is your prerogative. In 100 years if we are all still here and the earth starts to cool and we realize its just a naturally occurring phenomenon your ancestors can wear "i told you so" t-shirts.

In the mean time... how about we tackle pollution and clean up the air, water and soil here on earth? Over population and pollution are fact. Anyone attempting to deny that can come prove themselves by drinking down a nice big glass of that brown/green lake Michigan water.

Maybe some of you can say "im doing this to stop global warming" and some of you can say "i dont want my childrens children having to resort to cannibalism when we cant grow food here anymore". Whatever floats your boat.

That way the air we breathe, the food we eat and the water we drink wont kill us while we wait and see if we are causing global warming and whether or not the planet can repair itself or exactly how many virgins we get if we blow ourselves up.

Adding...

My point here in this post is "who gives a damn if global warming is a conspiracy?". I get tired of people using a talking point as justification for continuing to be careless with the environment. Its like "if Al Gore is a liar that PROVES we can drill baby drill and not worry about spills in the ocean". Do like the BP funded commercials tell you and head on down to the gulf for vacation and dive right in. The oil is still there.

Ranger,

Take your time. Not like any of us are going anywhere.

Ernie,

The Flying Spaghetti Monster is a meme designed to mock false belief systems, or belief systems based on myths or unverifiable evidence. If you follow the meme to its beginning it was a response to the Kansas School Board trying to insert intelligent design into the science curriculum. That is where the Pirate - Global Warming graph originated.

Ironic, because the false belief systems are coming from the deniers of global warming, rejecting science, believing in conspiracies and agendas of sinister organizations, believing in myth. Just like the belief that there is going to be global cooling: a myth not supported by science.

The Pirate - Global Warming graph is a mockery of myth. There are many examples of that kind of misinformation, especially if you look up global warming denier sources such as Art Robinson/Oregon Institute and similar. They also push the belief that the earth is actually cooling. Their evidence? Graphs that have about as much credibility as the Pirate - Global Warming graph.

Stamp,

'Most scientists' of today would be 97%. That is, 97% of climate scientists believe that there is a better than 90% probablility that humans are the driving cause of climate change.

Science knows why some of the changes happened before, what influences cause change, and how much those influences are causing current changes. Humans are the biggest influence this time. This is what the science says.

It is a mistake to compare the failings of 'science' in the past to the science of today. It's a favorite talking point of denialist sources. As if 'you were wrong once a long time ago, you might be wrong again!' Only if it were that easy. Science was much different back then: science was more influenced by clergy and the scientific method had not been developed into it's current process which is practiced today. However, its foundations run all the way back to Aristotle.

Moreso, the concept that 'scientists used to believe the earth was flat' is a myth in and of itself.

It is good to concern outselves with pollution. But changing the fundamental chemistry of our atmosphere isn't merely pollution, it's a much different and much more profound change. It's also a lot scarier and we as a group are much more prone to rejecting it out of fear.
