Anyone have any experience with Def. Tech. in-walls. I know their towers are incredible, and subs move some pretty good volumes of air, but I haven't heard their in-wall speaker's yet.

Any and all input greatly appreciated. Have a rocking day!!!

They are bipolar, not dipolar. No "null" zone. They don't need to be placed right at the listeners sides. The in-wall bipolars are designed to direct sound in two directions and have a great balance of being somewhat directional but too much. A cross between monopole and dipole. Perfect for a system used for multi-channel movies and music.

The UIW-75 (dual woofers and the same basic tweeter as the $5000/pr towers!) are VERY dynamic LCR in-walls. We use them all the time when in-walls are a must. Add 3 or 4 bipolar in-wall surrounds and a SuperCube for a fantastic in-wall package.

And this fall Definitive is going to debut an in-wall SuperCube to round out the package!

Bi-Polar.... Di-polar.... Whatever.... Fact is, you CANNOT get a true Bi or Di polar effect from an In-Wall speaker. Its a joke that they call the In-walls bipolar.... Smoke and Mirros...

AV 101...

Not to say they dont sound good... I think they sound fine. Very good even...... but they are NOT bi-polar.

One of my favorite speakers I ever owned were Mirage 3Si's.

Spectacular sound in the right room..... Unfortunatly I dont have the room for them anymore.

I guess itdepends on you definition of "bipolar". Bi (meaning two) and pole (meaning direction) is how I look at it. You are right, they are not at all the same type of bipolar as bipolar towers, even Definitives own. But that isn't their designed application anyway. The are meant to be used as surrounds and do a great job diffusing the sound a little while still being flush in the wall.
